now it's basically just the current usa, to make a comparison to the way the culture has changed. it is a lot less relevant and it's probably hard for someone who wasn't actually therre to imagine how fucking cool it was at the time to have not just free anime porn but also a massive thinktank of fellow autists discussing nearly every conceivable topic, without overbearing moderation or karma mechanics, without nonsensical rules, just raw unfiltered talk WITH temporary image hosting
you zoomers don't understand the days when we had to use like three different websites just to post one picture on a forum and there was no guarantee that image would even be where you left it a week from then. just being able to upload a pic of your car or your game or your whatever and talk about it with no fuss was a big fucking deal.
