There is no possible way to apply that tone to a Chinese-inspired faction without being astoundingly racist. Imagine Cathay being filled with fu manchu motherfuckers and HHHHWOOOOOAAAA ninjas

This isn't just limited to Cathay, look at the Votann faction in 40K. Zero Grimdark because the only way you can excuse edgy content is if its legacy and made in calmer decades. Modern content expects to be hyperanalysed by merciless controversy-hungry types so we end up having space-dwarves who are apparently the perfect civilisation with no bigotry
