It's so funny crossing the border from San Diego and driving south along the coast, through TJ and into Ensenada.
As soon as you cross the border it's entering a new world - trash everywhere, lining the streets, graffiti covers everything, traffic becomes a cluster fuck - it's a massive contrast to San Diego which is this wealthy sparkling city full of large-scale architecture and expensive stores.
As you drive south you see just tons of empty coastal property and dozens of half-finished buildings that look like they've been sitting for years or decades - someone started building a nice ocean-view building and then just abandoned it.
In the US there would be developers climbing over each other to buy it up and pack houses into every square inch, but they're just so disorganized down there and the corruption makes it so difficult to get anything done that nobody really tries.
