It's a shame. Cool setting aside, Halo also went on to apply successful multiplayer concepts from PC to Consoles, all of which kept being doubted only to surpass expectations.
Except now without Ed and the tenure of Bungie, it was easy to push around 343 (not that they didn't make bad decisions of their own - of course no exec/higher-up sat down and made all bad decisions) to the point they were constantly prioritizing trend-chasing over what was already tested and proven as good stuff to have on launch-day.
