You are more private, but not more secure, with a basic Linux desktop. To attain security you need to implement Mandatory Access Controls or isolating virtualization. Qubes OS is the latter, handling all the hard work for you while you enjoy the security benefits.
When installing LibreOffice, opt for libreoffice-kf5. Not libreoffice-kf6! Search `Qubes libreoffice-kf5` for more details (like an environment variable which also needs to be set in the template when installing LO). There's a bug in LO which can crash it if you use the default GTK interface.
Be prepared to fix *something* on almost any distro. Nothing is perfect, I opt for security to hedge the imperfection risks.
