It's unfortunate to hear the "We don't think _____ is the problem, so we aren't going to try and do anything different." yet again. I would hope that creative industries would venerate trying new ideas, concepts and styles rather than holding on to trends in order to spit audiences who are announcing how sick of them they are.

I don't know why the entertainment industry chooses to take such an antagonistic relationship with its audiences. I get that they by no means should make things solely because they think it's what the audience wants, or that they should be beholden to public opinion, but I just don't see why they are so condescending to their audience with this "You guys don't know what you want, WE DO!" mentality. Ultimately you have to create a product that is, you know, appealing to people, and part of that is choosing an art style that people find appealing. It doesn't mean you have to compromise any integrity to do so, but just understand what's working and what isn't. Beanmouth isn't.
