I'm going to disagree about no one in the middle class not wanting this.
We live in a society of consumer cattle.
The middle class wants to live a life of a yuppie.
Luxuries such as being driven by ubers, eating out regularly, being able to order food, unlimited entertainment and excessively buying things they don't need is what they want.
How can they afford to do such things?
A lot of these businesses are pits of VC money using min wage or sub-min wage labour since they're not economically viable.
