Usually means you're not invested enough in a colony. Happens often to me. It takes new ideas and eventually that one will come up and you will play it all the way to the end.
The mod wait is also real. Been waiting forever for exploration expanded or diplomacy expanded to do some proper nomad and faction conflict saves, but Oskar's gotta push out another slop xenotype or make up a new mod.
Btw give the scenario starts on the workshop a look. Some of them can actually give you the inspiration you need to stay invested. I recently played with this one starting scenario "exiled druglord" and it was a blast.
