major corporation owners use the shares they're paid in as leverage to take out loans to use as income, but cannot be called income as it's a borrowed debt. they then pay off the debt by liquidating an asset or trading in their stock, but because they're playing with borrowed money to begin with they never have to pay it off in full. they have to make the minimum payments. they can then continue to acrew more debt that doesn't need imediately payed off year after year as they continue to acrew more assets like stocks. the stocks only ever get taxed when they cash them out.
