Flynn is a former archie staff. Not a fan of actual Sonic. He's a fan of Penders' work who wanted to write fanfiction for his loose adaptation of Sonic. Flynn's work is two degrees separated from Actual, Existing, Sonic the Hedgehog. He is a cancer who must be rooted out.
It should be noted, when I say 'western fans', I mean fans from the west. JP purists also fall under this, and I am cautiously optimistic that they could make better content than SEGA can. SEGA is a terrible company with terrible direction who are responsible for much of the rot. JPFags might be Maekawa bootlickers but at least they recognize (some) of the flaws in his work and are capable of making a more coherent and interesting vision for the series. SEGA are completely talentless.
There is a holy trinity of Actual, Existing, Sonic the Hedgehog, and IDWslop, archiefaggotry, and Flynn are far from god but close to SEGA. Bleak.

Maekawa flanderized Tails into the 'tech guy' and made him 'Eggman's rival'. This was the beginning of the end for Classic Tails characterization. What's important isn't him being a 'big hero', but retaining the push and pull of his dynamic with Sonic, his mechanical skills being notable but not all-powerful or 'super genius', and him being a character who focuses on action. Through his flight, platforming, and speed. This is what the classic games understood. This is what Adventure 1 understood. This is what Tails' solo outings understood. But Maekawa? He put the fox in a fucking mech. And nothing was ever the same again. Terrible decision by a hack who loves to jerk off Michael Bay.
