They can't just publicly say "I want to go indie because muh creative freedoms" or "I don't want to give a cut from all my merch sales to Cover anymore" because it would make them look greedy.
So they come up with whatever grievances they may have had over the years, but it's pretty clear that those grievances are not the actual reason for them leaving.
