>not actually part of her, just what she wearsA character's clothes are quite literally part of their design, anon. Often the most important part.
>So even if you change her clothes, you have to include that monocle or be very accurate with the artstyle to let us know it's herI mean, name me one Ame outfit which isn't clearly her when you omit the monocle.
Not that it matters, because the monocle is still part of the design. If you need to simplify the design to make it generic, then it's not really generic.
>Why is that bad?Don't get me wrong, it's not. I'm actually glad that it's the case. I'm simply pointing that the design elements you're pointing to haven't actually changed appreciably. Dooby's design is still distinctively and recognizably her, despite the downgrade, specifically because it's "NotAme".
>except for the puffy short legs on her overalls/strapless topAgreed. Dooby isn't generic, and I do still like her design. She's just *closer* to being generic than Ame was.
Also, those are clothes you mentioned. Like I said, they are a part of the actual design and they matter.
>I don't want everyone to be a stereotypical overdesigned indie chuubaHonestly, none of the holo alumni's reincarnations are "overdesigned". If anything a lot of them lean too far in the opposite direction by being a bit too plain. I would say Nimi and, again, Saba, are phenomenal examples of exHolo character designs that break that trend and hit the sweetspot - distinctive and interesting without being obnoxious or noisy, pleasant color coordination, elegant, balanced and generally just well-composed.
I will give you that Dooby's design seems to fit Ame's personality as a straightman/gremlin/unassuming behind-the-scenes tech girl a bit better than Ame's did, so there's that.
>if attached to a bit of a boring streamerDon't you call the unmedicated owl a boring streamer! She's had lots of great ideas like her last April Fools stream, and her commentary could make a grass-growing stream entertaining.
