I think so but that's just because they appealed to my personal taste more. I don't really like big games with hundreds of mechanics and whatnot. I'm fine with something that can be finished in a week with limited complexity (with plenty of room for mastery, of course, like Devil May Cry 3).
And every so often we do get something straight from the PS2 era and I love that.
Most would say gaming has never been better however, and I can't say they are incorrect. If games are "interactive technology", then yes, peak is always rising.
