Yeah, and what's wild is that Tsucc *does* foreshadow the diarrhea as being what wiped out the Ganja squad throughout layer 6 and the village arc.
>Meinya shits in the elevator to layer 6
>Riko has to take a fat dump in the elevator too
>there's a fucking turd on the ground when Riko lays down to pantomime sleeping
>Riko gets indigestion from the village's local cuisine and spends the day on the pot shitting her brains out, pretty sure this actually plays a role in separating the party
>Riko actually flashes back to Jiruo's lessons post-diarrhea and even thinks to rehydrate because, incidentally, explorers can actually *die* from getting the runs
And sure enough, the Ganja squad basically got party-wiped by diarrhea and dehydration. There was legit a reason for him having Riko shit her brains out and think, "I'd better drink some water, explorers can die from diarrhea." Bro Chekhov's Gun'd a bowel movement.
If you think about it, he sorta did the same thing with the baby-eating, too. The party eats those weird wriggling fetus things from the eggs around the time they encounter the Iron Rain. Already putting the idea off eggs and of eating infants/young into your head, and subtly, through that imagery. That whole eating-the-fetuses-out-of-the-eggs thing was foreshadowing paralleling what happened with Irumyuui and the wish-granting eggs. It wasn't "oh, look how gross this stuff they're eating is."
Half the time I see these "what was the purpose of X" posts in Made In Abyss threads I don't even want to honor them with a response because the response kinds necessitates a spoilery thematic analysis of a whole fucking arc bound up with whst *should* be Media Literacy 101, and frankly because I deadass think people aren't always asking in earnest.
