I'm kind of expecting Tamagotchi to lean in on simpler designs for some time, since the current revival/boom trend in Japan happened because of OG and Connection-era nostalgia for older audiences, and new fans learning about it through memes and streamers streaming the video games (almost all of which came from the original era like Hoshi de Hakken and 64 de Hakken alongside the obvious Corner Shop series they're nostalgia pandering to right now).
