i think that a company shouldn't be compelled to release either source or binaries because they choose to no longer support a product
at the same time, i think users should be free to examine, document, and modify the programs that they buy
i think what SKG wants is naive and misguided
i wouldn't want to be forced to share in-house tools that are trade secrets, including servers, assuming a user could even make use of such resources
i also wouldn't want to be forced to spend capital on services that i no longer want to support
of course, a company could always choose to share those assets (i personally think this contributes to longevity of a game and cultivates good will among users and a strong community)
maybe a better petition with more sensible propositions will come along, but this one is dead in the water
