Grudziadz is really charming. It's amazingly tranquil and the happiest place I've visited yet. Lots of people down by the river watching the sunset, or dining alfresco at the plaza eateries. Seagull cries and human chatter make the soundtrack, not revving vehicles or humming industry. The ramparts of the fortress city tower above the river, surrounded by swallows gorging on insects. This will be my last two-day stay in Poland.

Butthurt much? My experience reveals the fact that parts of Poland are unfriendly and shitty for visitors, just like every other country I've been to. Then you cross an invisible line, and now everything's great.
