Lots of things here, first of all I like the movement and the speed of the combat. I like how you can use the shurikens here. I like WP to FS. I also like how UT now have a powered state after killing a certain amount of enemies.
I don't like how they removed essence. It's the most interesting system of NG, on the fly decision making and map awareness were things that essence induced to the combat. Aside from that, upgrades and items were balanced around essence. There's a risk-reward system, you're burning currency/health/ninpo for an attack.
In 3 they pretty much just removed all of those. Harder enemies don't drop higher currencies anymore which is pretty stupid. Instead of a multiplier based on combo counts it's just a flat addition. It's just way less interesting than before. Doubly so when the best way to earn karma is by abusing SoB which has zero downsides.
I don't like SoB as a mechanic. No reason not to use it and it's purely reactive. It's not something you can initiate which is annoying specially because it's very inconsistent to trigger.
Funnily enough, despite not liking the girl chapters before, I enjoyed playing kasumi the most in this game because it turns a reactive mechanic like SoB into active. This should've been how this mechanic worked.
Weapon combos are now really long, normally this is good but when cicada surge complements it the game starts to feel really mashy.
Enemy types also feel way smaller than before and despite the better movement, WR/WP/GT feel useless because most enemies will just dodge unless they're about to die in which case why bother. Also weird how they turned the claws into the tonfas.
I don't think I have to even say anything about the qtes and the story, it's fucking shit. Even the RE version still has too much walk and talks. Honestly with the amount of qtes and the forced on the rails shooting section, you can tell me it's made by platinum and I would believe it. I don't even need NG4.
