with the nationals coming up I remembered former Portuguese TT champion (femmes) - Beatriz Pereira - to check what she's been cooking;
turns out she quit cycling last year because her dad died of cancer, and she says there's no reason to race anymore if he isn't there to cheer and hug her at the end :( she's a biomedical scientist and says she'll devote the rest of her life to study cancer and hopefully see or even help science advance on that field
