A lot of dumbass Dash jokes write themselves with this one. Ponyville’s weather pony not only unaware of hurricanes as a weather phenomenon, but unable to even grasp the concept of it until she’s in one?
The story is good. I had low expectations because it is a simple concept RD story, and it’s also not really more than that. Even so, there were several individual scenes that were really evocative, and seemed outstanding for such a story. My only issue with the fic, really, is that it’s just a RD story: the author seems better than this.

I like the insight about will and instinct, those were clear enough but I didn't really pick up on the part about blending them, mostly because like >>42310776 I couldn't believe the hamfisted introspective parts. They weren't outright bad. If anything, it's to the story's credit that they were so short and to the point. I just couldn't accept that Dash would have that kind of internal monologue. It's completely out of line with episodes like Sonic Rainboom, and much too fast a resolution compared to Wonderbolts Academy or Newbie Dash.
It's not a sin to write a pony better than they are in the show - it's basically required for Celestia after all - I just don't care for Dash much so it doesn't really elevate this story.
