I remember when I was a kid and thought every car was going to eventually look like the Honda Insight because that was the wackiest looking thing. When my dad got a used one for driving to work I thought he was ahead of the game. Honestly, I wish it did at this point. A fuel efficient vehicle with an I3 that doesn't grenade itself and a 5-speed? That sounds too good to be true in the hell we live in now.
The jokes of the past really are the dreams of the future. We just don't realize it till the whole industry is a joke.

Always confused me, but it's true. Didn't hit me till I got to 30. My friends who I thought valued... value, immediately started trying to get newer, but not better cars. My friend needed help looking for a car, said he wanted a crossover for more space. I sent him some low mileage mid-00s RAV4s and CRVs. Seemed like the best option for his needs, but he insisted it had to be at max 7 years old. He ended up getting a 2018 Ford Escape with over 125k miles and it's been a headache for him, but at least it's newer.
