poor means barely meeting the basic requirements for food and shelter but I think it can be extended to any type of existence where you have to grind daily to keep a decent standard of living. it's not just how much you have but how much time you have to give for it. there are obviously many other factors to take in to account that don't include personal preferences or ambitions. living well/comfy is not the same as being wealthy
