I have a feeling it was more because of how slick the dang slides were. Gen 1 and 2 were parkerized, gen 3 and early 4 was tenifer, mid-late gen 4 was melonite/nitride, but they also still make gen 3s in this for CA and ban states. Gen 5 is some proprietary "diamond like finish" and there's some new finish on the slimline handguns too.

I just think glock's attitude is laughable, they'll change a finish mid cycle to something worse and not say a word about it
