personally I'm glad he didnt go on to define the whole elder scrolls series. I think his work on morrowind stands out as excellent within the broader context of tamriel; if every province was as strange and alien and esoteric as morrowind it would kind of diminish how interesting it is. Morrowind is made better by its contrast to skyrim and cyrodiil, and vice versa.
I think if they were to bring him back to add his own vision to the world again, they should let him do his own version of valenwood or the summerset isles

the 'generic fantasy' is made fascinating by its shared space with morrowind. I think it's unhelpful to think of skyrim and oblivion as "redefining" the elder scrolls after kirkbride, but additions that create additional texture and contrast and elevate all pieces
it might have been exhausting if every TES game after morrowind tried to be as strange
