Just flew into Warsaw, took the bus to a new neighborhood on the outskirts with a 76 PLN rental room ($21, it's abnormally cheap for Poland). The city is very pleasant in the warm summer sunshine. Tons of people out and about on the wide walk/bike paths. City buses are busy as well. 3.7 PLN or $1 for a bus ride, but nobody seems to enforce the ticket requirement. Much lower urban noise level than Asia, much cleaner air as well. The new restaurants on the bottom floor of the condo towers are rather pricey, but this isn't Southeast Asia. I better get used to it. Two scoops of fancy ice cream 16.5 PLN, almost $5. Italian pasta plates around 40 PLN, over $10. Kebab is 24 PLN or $6.50, but it's ginormous. Tables aren't set up for solo diners, but the joint is empty in the afternoon. Orderly people don't eat at random times, I guess. I got some ripe raspberries from a roadside farm stand. The market lady made snarky comments to her friend when I inspected her raspberries closely before buying. The ATMs only dispense 50s and 100s, which I've been foisting on annoyed business owners who always want smaller bills. Nobody stares here, it's so different from the Third World. There's a good number of pretty girls even out here in random suburbia. Some migrant workers as well. Immigration stamped me right in, but interrograted the work/education visa holders and even led some away to the office.
