Might be why suicide is considered a sin. It is a sacrifice to the devil. I know why the church would be against it but they really demonized it to the point beyond reason. You could have a very pious person who never harmed anyone except themself. Then have a priest tell the relatives that person is in Hell and can't be buried in a Church cemetery. Even though it was the only sin that person ever committed. Kind of a dick move for exoteric reasons.
