I used to hate painting bare heads because they're hard so I tried to drybrush my way out of them with poor results, and then I gave it an earnest try and it turned out better than expected. Since then I want to paint more.

Looks pretty good man. The trick to getting good control for the smaller details is that there is no trick, it just takes practice and earnest trying. The most helpful thing is to brace your painting hand on the heel of your off-hand (if you are holding the model up) close to the model for more measured strokes. Other than that, the thing that's helped me the most has been checking out painting channels on YT for ideas and techniques.
Since I'm also painting Black Legion, I found that instead of priming them black, I prime them grey and I paint the black almost last. That way I can be a little more loose and fast with the trim and details and clean them up with the black later. I also keep the backpacks and heads separate, it makes painting them so much faster. Also, a pass with a wash does a lot of work, but you get better results if you paint/dab it on selectively with a brush rather than slathering the model.
