Grey knights. The army is just begging to get squatted by gw, and itโs too fucking overly detailed like holy fuck gw.
>tq
i like the models of imperial agents but the army doesn't appeal to me
>>96183713Yeah, but anon is a throoder obsessed with arbiters, I'm not even going to read the thread but I'm sure the thread question is some uninspired daydreaming shit and it's immediately replied with a post mentioning imperial agents.
Why does GW over produce slop that no one wants, but under produce the products they know are going to be hugely popular?
Do they hate money? Are they retarded?
Hey guys, hope you're having a great weekend.
There is less than a week left until the deadline for the july collage so I'm gathering the submission now until midnight the 31st. Just reply to this post with your models. I will comb through the archive too but this is the best way to not be missed.
Here is the link to the vote for next month's theme. Sorry if I missed any of your suggestions.
https://strawpoll.com/e6Z2AzDqEgN
I will try to make this anchor post every thread until the deadline.
>>96183744Itโs funny how kill team is the only game to have โrespectfullyโ kill peoples models. Shame the games still dogshit.
>>96183702 (OP)>TQOrks. I love them. I love what they add to the world. No interest in painting them or playing them.
>>96183702 (OP)>TQThousand Suns
I love the faux egyptian style but I just find marines so utterly boring.
>>96183702 (OP)>TQnone, I'm already painting CSM
>>96183702 (OP)>TQI think at this point I'm confident enough in my painting that skill would not limit my choices. Besides I'm already collecting 2 of the supposedly more time consuming armies in 40k, it can't really get much worse. That said I like Eldar a lot, especially after the refresh. I might get a kit or two eventually and see how it goes once I'm done with some of my other stuff
>>96183702 (OP)>tqGuard. Tons of detail on tons of models that need some degree of kitbashing to manufacture a little variation for your dudes.
>TQ
That's tough, if I love an army it's worth the effort to paint. The closest might be Imperial Guard, but that's because a couple of years ago I painted 30-odd British Airborne for Bolt Action and they turned out pretty bad so I have an aversion to regular human soldiers.
>>96183702 (OP)>TQI love the idea of clowns, to be able go wild with patterns and freehand. But then I remember that they're elves and I think better of it.
Why is it that in so many videos I see involving a wet palette, the paint behaves way differently than on mine? The paint here is pulling back in on itself after it's spread out with the brush. On mine, the paint just sits exactly where I put it. I'm guessing it's a property of the paper they're using, but I have no idea what the difference is. It almost looks like what I'd expect if the paper were waxed.
>TQ
I like the lore and aesthetics of Necrons but think they have shit gameplay and too many of their vehicles are ugly and so I will never collect that army
>>96183999They might be using more water, too. I've had one for months and I'm still figuring out the right amount of water to soak into the sponge, I tend to have too little.
>>96183744sauturine units looks so lame

>>96184114that's marineshit in general
>>96184069It's not more water. I used to load too much into my sponge to the point where it was over thinning. I've found that having the sponge saturated, then with a TINY amount of excess that you can see in the corners of the palette is a good amount.
>>96184114I get that they're a callback to the OG's, I just don't like 'em, simple as.

Tyranids and Guard - they look like made for batch painting, and horde army would make me burnout faster than the single candle shared in sororita squad.

>>96184241>guard instead of IF>hasn't read the actual short story
>>96184267I never read it either, but whatโs stopping guardsmen from being there to assist the Imperial Fists? Surely thereโd be some normal humans whoโd be helping keep guard when thereโs only a hundred space marines on the planet at best.
>>96184281It was specifically an IF fortress
Also it was just throwing gaunts at the fortress distracting IF and their autism for counter-siege warfare while rest of nids ate 3 or 4 other hive worlds and planets in the system
>>96184182This post makes me feel angry.
>>96184281>guard assisting marinesmarines are small, dedicated strike forces that assist and augment existing imperial forces. GW of course ignores this and has them do whatever the author wants anyway

>>96184222Even when making glazes it doesn't do this for me. It sticks to the paper
>>96184357Cool, are you going for a steel armor look like a medieval knight?
>>96184399Yeah, it's going for a kinda rustic steel so it feels like they're sandbagging their opponents by wearing bad armour and winning
>>96183702 (OP)>TQnah, the only shit I would discount myself from ever painting is the stuff I give zero fucks about.

>>96184535Man these are great but you should try to blend that smoke into the base somehow, it looks off

>>96183999some people use waxed papers on their wet palettes.
>>96184558>>96184560Don't do this, using that type of paper defeats the purpose of it being a wet palette in the first place since it doesn't let moisture through to hydrate the paint

Anyone familiar with the asymmetric mission cards?
Trying to wrap my head around this one here; so the defender is required to try and burn an objective turn one, but they don't score anything for it becomes scoring doesn't begin until turn 2?
>>96184581maybe some countries only have impermeable super heavily waxed stuff available but I've been using geenric supermarket paper for over a decade and it works great.
>>96184681I donโt see the problem with that desu. Terra is already guarded by an unholy amount of space marines, battle sisters, guard, and mechanicus forces on the planet alone, then inside the palace is the peak of the peak of humanity, so if it gets to the point that an enemy force is able to reach terra, and then the emperors palace it pretty much means the Imperium has already been effectively defeated already. Sending out one tenth of your custodes to prevent losses to the Imperium, and thus guarding Terraโs best interests instead of just spending centuries guarding an outpost in a distant mountain outside the palace seems like a good decision.
>>96184623>โWe are the artisans of death, and war is our medium. Every battlefield is an opportunity to reshape our enemies, to test them in the furnace. The ones who break, who fail to withstand the pressure, are nothing but worthless slag and are quickly forgotten. The ones who endure will emerge as something worthy of remembrance, and honest hatred.โ-Chaplain Erasmus Lopehs, 4th company, M37 after the 3rd battle of ChalโZe.
>Given the nature of the Coal Hearts as a chapter on the very fringes of Imperium controlled space they have a relatively lax attitude toward the Codex Astartes with an odd chapter structure. Each company is specialized for a given task or form of warfare. A marine is typically assigned to one of the third to seventh companies full time following their stint as Neophytes based on their assessed personality and temperment before moving on to the 1st and second companies as veterans if they live long enough.>The 8th company is comprised of the Apothecarion and Armory, rather than those organizations being organic to each company as normal. There is a full combat ready allotment that typically provides security for the chapterโs Apothecarion and forges. This means the 8th is over twice the size of the other companies when at full strength. For training new marines the chapter uses an apprenticeship system with younger brothers assigned a mentor during their time in the 9th and 10th companies. Only when their mentor deems it appropriate is a neophyte returned to Oracleus for a final scrutiny by Sokar before they are given the black carapace. Though in certain emergencies this has been fast tracked, the new marines instead returning to Oracleus when the crisis has passed for confirmation by the ancient dreadnought instead.

This is disregarding how many are assigned to different duties outside of just 'guard duty'. You are actually treating them like Thunder Warriors, rather than the pinnacle of humanity in almost all regards.
Imagine a few thousand out in the Imperium as generals over various warzones, with the political power to make inquisitors, even High Lords bend the knee. Actual logistics being enforced by the voice of the Emperor Himself. No more petty squabbling by would be petit generals over who gets the most glory and fame, or being denied the resources they need by greedy forge worlds or small minded inquisitors. >>96184747It has nothing to do with how grim or noble it is. It breaks the very basic logic of the setting. Khorne is the chaos god that gets off on slaughter and blood. >>96184809In the Siege of Terra novels, some of the Death Guard have moments of lucidity where they're appalled at what they've become. Some other members of Legions are displeased with what their Primarchs had turned into, but generally the legions are so high on the fumes of their flavor of Chaos they don't see things the same way any more. But I think none of them have second thoughts about turning on the Emperor, they were in a carefully cultivated stew of growing resentment towards Him and loyalty to their Primarch first. The Emperor, and by extension the Imperium, does not give second chances, so they're traitors forever regardless of how they feel after the fact.

He died during the Beast invasion, and was never seen again?
Sorry for blogposting.
Did my first game since early 8th ed, my 1000pts Black Templars Wrathful Procession detachment vs Dark Angels.
Here is what I learned:
>Wrathful Procession +2 movement chant is a blessing
Having marines move on 8 is insane. I havent seen the new rules, but I hope we have something similar for my footslogging melee Templars.
>Sword Brethren SLAPS
I hope the new changes wont nerf them as much, but their W3 and power weapons attacks are just tasty. I didn't expect them to tank that many shots and once they hit mellee they just ruined whatever they reached. They can't take a punch from whatever survived (6 men bladeguards) though.
>Brute Fervour stratagem is the bane of Dark Angels
Their -1 to wound thing doesnt do much when for 1cp you ignore modifers to hit and wound in melee. Too bad I only remembered this stratagem in round 3.
>Shooting is actually good.
I barely have any shooting, and I had my whole crusader squad wiped out turn 1 by eliminators, hellblasters and heavy intercessors focus firing them. I underestimated the shooting phase.
>Chaplain on bike is a force multiplier
He not only deals a lot of damage but the ourtiders are a menace with him around.
>Terminators and terminator captain are pillow fisted garbage.
Goddamn do they deal no damage at all. Like none. What happened to power fists? Once upon a time it makes anything it touches explode. Now it cant even dent a heavy intercessor. I swear they might as well be pillow fists. The captain's relic blade is no better.
>The Emperor's Champion is the GOAT
This guy almost solod a redemptor dreadnought, killed a bladesguard vet with just a look and almost took out a jump pack captain.
>I hate plasma.
Really I do.
Also here's a question. How does Precision work? Lets say my chaplain grants his outrider squad Precion against a Judiciar in Bladesguard squad. Once the chaplain killed the judiciar by himself, cant the outriders hit the bladesguard? Even if none of them rolled yet?
Is there still no scans of the Chaos Knights Codex?
I'm urged to do a tournament tommorrow, but my rules are from the start of 10th still on grainy printer paper

>>96186232yes but that's GW fault and the rule sets. Its the same with war gear. You always run best in slot if not your stupid.
Solution for named characters is to restrict them to narrative games and ban from match play.
War gear has to be changed so far that it has negatives and positives. Look at it as a tool.
Chainsawsword very good at removing mobs, bad at armored and very heavy armored troops. give it like a blast rule and additional AP in that circumstance but remove the bonuses when conditions are not meet.
Energy fist very good at removing heavy armored targets so it gets bonuses there and maluses in mons.
instead of what is the best for ever and there fore only viable forever look at it what is viable against the target i am about to face.
you dont eat soup with a fork, you can and its messy but the spoon is much better.
Do you think GW could make a big narrative event that involved some of the really tiny factions like Leagues of Votann, Genestealer Cults, Drukhari, and Chaos/Imperial Knights? It seems like all of them have no stake in any galactic scale conflicts and just kind of exist on the sidelines. For Drukari I can see a narrative forever campaign. They are slavers and pirates. So a pirate campaign about raids around the whole galaxy throu the web way. Raiding settlements and citys to get slaves everywhere.

Defending from drukari, imperium maybe the occasional chaos lord scavenging. tyrranids and orks but they are not in the position to start mayor campaigns of conquests. They pretty much on there own.
Eldar Having a defensive campaign around maiden worlds and craft worlds maybe even recovery raids for soul stones I can see. A mayor anti chaos campaign for narrative purposes could be centerยดd around isha and trying to rescue her with the yenari and the new death god.

>>96186610 This is a really autistic reason and iโm not sure if this is the reason people say it looks bad, but I donโt like it when giant bipedal mechs donโt have hands. it makes me imagine that they could easily be knocked down and be unable to pick themselves back up. this is also exacerbated by the fact that these mechs are really lanky which means they can be pushed around a lot more easily than something like a deff dread.
>>96186738I hope WE will get a second wave soon-ish. They have big potential for a second wave. No idea what EC or TS could get though.
>>96186610I think they look sick and want some.
How would you pilot 2k points of Dreadnoughts?
>>96186775Very aggressive, move up, don't stop.
>>96186775You go back to 6th ed, slap them in drop pods. Drop right on top of the enemy. You do not fuck up your scatter roll. You unload all over their face.
Noob question, how do the tiny Votann transports work? If you put half your Hearthkyn in a truck, and it drives off and drops them off somewhere else, do you functionally just have two 5 man Hearthkyn squads?
>>96186715I dont think thats really the same unit tbqh anon
>>96186775With several near death space marines
>>96186775Run dreadnoughts up field, smash. Explode in blaze of glory
>>96186746That or the combat patrols I believe.
>>96186801They can split units of 10 into 2 units of 5 at the start of the game only.
Dark eldar venoms and the immolator for sisters do the same thing
>>96186775Die instantly because you have no invulns and people are teching for anti-Knights
>>96186779>>96186812As in "murder" is the strategy? Would I care about deepstrikes into my home field? 3 ballistus sound vulnerable to getting into melee.
Going to pick the Levs Termies, Sternguard, Libby, and Term Capt. Is any of that any good?
>>96186818Huh. What an odd thing
>>96186889What part of "krumpem good an ard" did you not understand?
>>96186923Yea, it's almost like at one point the game was designed to let you field troops in minimal sized squads and then a shortsighted mandate was handed down from a corporate entity which has forced the rules team to bend themselves into pretzel shapes every other book.
I feel self conscious at the lgs (not a warhammer store) every time I go to play warhammer because I see a lot of people that seem to have given up or stopped caring in a bad way.
Anybody else have this feeling?
See the purple haired neckbeard posted several times here and with his own thread. Those are the kind of people that make me feel self conscious about my appearance and make me want to properly care for myself.
>>96184623Lost in space tau space pirates from the 4th sphere.
>>96186923It is because GW had some Hardline stance that all units must come in whatever size the box they sell them in is. But this created a bunch of weird problems for a bunch of factions like transports that literally can't transport anything because their capacity is too small or boxes that allow you to build a hero out of one of the models and leave an odd number of models left in the box for the unit. Which is why you get some weird rules for splitting infantry models into two squads or some elites that allow you to take a bunch of different numbers of them in weird combinations of 2, 3, 5 or 6 but not 4.
>>96186963Why are you not taking care of yourself?
If youโre a DG player, then why are you feeling self conscious about your lack of hygiene instead of embracing it?
>>96184623Kabal based around evil fae genie deals that show up to the desperate and offer them ruination cloakee as salvation. Wych cult based around the Wild Hunt that scours entire systems hunting and abducting the lost and misbegotten. Haemonculus coven based around alien beauty standards and collecting perfect specimens and oddities.
>>96186923Dark Eldar Venoms are so fucking funny because the Court of the Archon adds 4 to the unit size and Kabalites can't go under 10, so instead of just taking a MSU, you have to
>Get Venom>Take Kabalite Squad, split it using Venom rule>Get Archon and Court, attach to Kabalite squad with special weapons>Put small guns Kabalites in the venom>Only then can you put the Court + Kabalite half + Archon into a raiderAll to get 1 unit into a vehicle
>>96186994I am I just feel like I should take care of myself more.
>>96187046This is why the Court is actually like a 340 point unit or something because you have to have 4 other units to make it even function in Skysplinter.
It feels much more elegant in Reaper's Wager where you can just deepstrike the whole 15 man blob and use a strategem for the sustained hits, but it's not as good there without the Lance, Sustained 2, and Ignores Cover.
>>96187091Does SSA Court + Kabalite squad just randomly like, roll a 6 on a dark lance shot and accidentally oneshot a vehicle?
>>96186889Too much thinking, run forward, shoot big guns, smash, when you can't shoot or smash anymore, explode, then LOL
>>96186928>>96187145>go, venerable brothers, smash to the extremeI do want to try this.
>>96187096It does if you use the Sustained 2 strat on them for shooting. You just accidentally turn them into another Dark Lance Scourge squad with three auto hits and an auto wound. More if you are close enough for the blaster as well. The buff stacking is just insane on that unit.with a pain token and a transport and a strat.
