He's come to genuinely care about his crazed charge, somehow putting up with her antics with near infinite patience, only to find out his merest proximity is poisoning her sleep. Augustus fans need not be upset by the swerve, either, because Mr. Rehabilitated Almost-Rapist can't be blamed for Lucy's broken brain. Of course this doesn't negate how Lucy's PTSD kicked in during the daytime, but what's BCB without big gaping plotholes?
