Not... really? No. Not really. Season 1 of Critical Role is full of newbies to the D&D scene, and they chose classes that are famously underpowered and unfun to play. 20 minutes on /tg/ would have taught those dude and dudettes to not do this. The game master was a good 6/10, maybe a 7/10 when he really tried. They played fucking Pathfinder (lol). All in all, it's a good example of a first time party playing D&D, literally stepping into all the numerous traps with D&D and playing Pathfinder (lol).

Seconds season, they stopped playing Pathfinder (lol), and they mostly stuck to good classes. The GM was more competent.

The important point is that while Critical Role was mostly incompetent, it wasn't actively malicious, and I don't think it did any damage, long term.
