I think Lila's love being explicit and Filena warming up to her as the game progresses is made all the better when you remember the game also flat out rejected any opportunity for het. Nest works with Filena and "ironically" wishes she were a woman? Cool, he's banished from the majority story and never brings up a possible crush again. New guy Laris starts crushing on Filena instead? Well he's in your party for about 30 minutes before getting killed. Lila though, the slave girl Filena is given who doesn't need to stay with her once they escape the very first town? Yeah she never leaves the party and is the endgame relationship.
The game is definitely my main canon as well, but if nothing else Akemi Takada's art for the novels is nice additional material.
