The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) formally voted to disband today. An organization covering ten nation-states, ASEAN aimed to promote economic and security cooperation among its members. Over 600 million people belonged within the borders of the organization.
Formed in 1961, ASEAN initially was motivated by the desire to contain communism. Its most recent member was Cambodia in 1999. The organization had free trade agreements with a number of Asian and Pacific nations, including Nippon. The fall of the organization signals another defeat for the world order and may allow Shina to step into the chaos.
