t./gsg/
t./gsg/ rose again, lads

This day in history:
>1411 – King Charles VI grants a monopoly for the ripening of Roquefort cheese to the people of Roquefort-sur-Soulzon as they had been doing for centuries.
>1615 – Siege of Osaka: Forces under Tokugawa Ieyasu take Osaka Castle in Japan.
>1913 – Emily Davison, a suffragette, runs out in front of King George V's horse at The Derby. She is trampled, never regains consciousness, and dies four days later.
>1916 – World War I: Russia opens the Brusilov Offensive with an artillery barrage of Austro-Hungarian lines in Galicia.
>1920 – Hungary loses 71% of its territory and 63% of its population when the Treaty of Trianon is signed in Paris.
>1986 – Jonathan Pollard pleads guilty to espionage for selling top secret United States military intelligence to Israel.
>1989 – The Tiananmen Square protests and massacre are suppressed in Beijing by the People's Liberation Army, with between 241 and 10,000 dead (an unofficial estimate).

Serbia Advances, NATO Stares
September 10, 2021

Serbian armored forces have entered Kosovo! In perhaps the first display of the new world post-American collapse, Serbia has ignored the presence of NATO ground-forces and launched an attack on Kosovo. In 1999, NATO established KFOR (Kosovo Force), following NATO's intervention to end the humanitarian crisis in Kosovo. Since 1999, NATO forces have existed in Kosovo to maintain the peace and protect it from Serbian excursion.

During General Wesley Clark's command of NATO from 1997 to 2000, an incident occurred at Pristina International Airport in the days following the Kosovo War. Russian forces had arrived in Kosovo and planned to take charge of the airport, despite plans for the airport to fall under KFOR's command. General Clark ordered the British KFOR commander, Mike Jackson, to block the Russians with military action. Jackson responded, "I'm not going to start the Third World War for you" and refused, causing consternation among the American NATO officers.

The Balkans have seen relative peace since the Kosovo War. That may change now the American troops have withdrawn from NATO and now fight in the fields of Illinois against each other.

France managed to survive the embarrassing war of the Eighth Coalition without losing any territory or making any terribly huge concessions. An alliance was concluded between Austia and France recognizing Prussia's dangers on the continent. Emperor Bonaparte was forced to restore a constitution and accept the title of King while deferring all real political power to a new republican "Union Liberale" which quickly passed insane reforms like universal weighted sufferage, legal trade unions, a free press, abolition and open borders.
As the period of demilitarization comes to an end King Bonaparte quickly arranged for the creation of a new royal army. Hopefully this new army will be able to restore the empire and exact revenge on the coalition members who defeated France earlier this decade.

The Northern Exit
September 14, 2021

The first nation leaves NATO. Canada formally announced its intention to leave the military alliance that it had joined in 1949. The The Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) is a professional volunteer force, with active personnel numbers around 63,500 and reserve personnel around 22,500. Though small, Canada's wealth has meant that her military is armed with modern weaponry. Canada leaving NATO is another sign to Europe that she truly is alone.

Steel from a Dying Empire
October 13, 2021

Twelve American destroyers and six submarines permanently join Nippon's Maritime Self-Defense Force, based out of Chugoku. The sale went through in the days following the outbreak hostilities in the Second American Civil War. The U.S. Naval Command, operating rogue, agreed to the sale to fund the rest of its command force. Approximately $150 billion for the eighteen ships. Given that the Arleigh Burke-class destroyers cost around $2.2 billion to produce, the U.S. Naval Command considers the deal worthwhile, and Nippon considers it necessary given her isolation. As of 2020, Shina's naval fleet exceeded the U.S. in terms of outright size, with a battle force of over 370.

Importantly, the destroyers carry with them the Aegis combat system. Developed in the 1960s-70s, the Aegis is an American integrated naval weapons system, which uses computers and radars to track and guide weapons to destroy enemy targets. The Arleigh Burke-class destroyers hold one vertical launch missile system, one navy artillery gun, and two CIWS anti-air systems.

The newly-acquired ships boost Nippon's fleet capabilities by a significant amount. Whether it is enough to withstand a Shina invasion force, however, remains to be seen.

Anonymous No.2059790
the penalties from going over empire size aren't that bad. it's .2% tech and tradition cost, 1 unity for government reform, and a few other minor penalties for espionage and council agendas per point of empire size. you can outscale the penalties pretty easily

yea' i looked at that yesterday
there's a lot of potential modifiers in that to help me with empire size, but maybe half of them are a major time-sink to accomplish before i can fulfill my main roleplay goal (swallowing up all of the humans)
i guess the only final input i'm looking for is from someone who has experienced making their empire in stellaris 3.0 a ridiculously wide blob, in a galaxy generated to max size
down the road i'm considering demolishing some of my starbases, to help me build and sustain a 'chain-link' of systems spanning all the way to the "sol" system ( image in >>2059445 for reference ) and enslave them all completely without collapsing my empire in the process
i'm willing to do this and absolutely refuse to go the "gestalt consciousness/hivemind" path, i want to remain individualist
Anonymous No.2059803
empire size basically doesnt matter, you get more value from planets than empire size increases costs. you can't really keep it low enough even with a dedicated build, it's just not worth it.
just dont spam colonies on low habitability since that shits up the empire size with basically no economy in return

Southeast Fractured
November 21, 2021

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) formally voted to disband today. An organization covering ten nation-states, ASEAN aimed to promote economic and security cooperation among its members. Over 600 million people belonged within the borders of the organization.

Formed in 1961, ASEAN initially was motivated by the desire to contain communism. Its most recent member was Cambodia in 1999. The organization had free trade agreements with a number of Asian and Pacific nations, including Nippon. The fall of the organization signals another defeat for the world order and may allow Shina to step into the chaos.

The Maghreb Ignites
November 27, 2021

The Algerian-Moroccan War begins as Moroccan armored forces cross the border and enter Algeria.

Relations between Morocco and Algeria have been marred by several crises since their independence, particularly the 1963 Sand War, the Western Sahara War of 1975–1991, the closing of the Algeria–Morocco border in 1994, an ongoing disagreement over the political status of Western Sahara and the signing of the Israel–Morocco normalization agreement (as part of the Abraham Accords) in 2020.

In August 2021, Algeria formally severed ties with Morocco. With the collapse of America and a financial crisis and pandemic plaguing the world, tensions have reached the point of no return. Yet another war begins.

In other news, Serbia annexed Kosovo following its invasion. Within weeks, Montenegro has left NATO out of frustration with NATO's failure to protect Kosovo.

As can be seen on the map, Libya, under Saif Gaddafi, invaded and annexed Tunisia.

The Taliban broke the agreement with the Afghan government and invaded, seizing Kabul and the surrounding area within weeks.

The Atomwaffen Division seized Miami and had every U.N. peacekeeper executed on livestream. Blue helmets of Miami have become husks in the burned out of city of Miami, symbols of a world order that died with them.

The Pacific Pact: A Line Drawn in the Sea
February 17, 2022

Officials from Nippon, Australia, and Taiwan met in Tokio to sign a treaty that had been in the works since the days following the collapse of America. These three Pacific nations have entered into a military and economic alliance called the Pacific Defense Treaty Organization directly aimed at halting any future Shina advance in the region. The people in each respect nation, and several commentaries in SEA and East Asia, such as Chosen, have cheered this decision as potentially being able to stop future acts of aggression, or at least prevent the dominance of Shina in the Pacific.

The PTDO aims to do in Asia what NATO has done in Europe. In the early winter of the Cold War, Britain and France pleaded with the United States to provide for European defense. But the United States- then as now a reluctant multilateralist- joined only when it saw a way to contain Soviet expansion. In the ensuing decades, NATO laid the groundwork for European peace, prosperity, and security. The Asia-Pacific is, of course, far more diffuse-geographically, culturally, ethnically, politically, and otherwise- than Europe. But the basic deterrent principle at the heart of NATO is at the root of the PTDO.

During his first decade of leadership (2012-22), Xi Jinping’s actions have raised tensions with neighbors on several sides. In his first year as chairman of the Central Military Commission, Xi established an air defense identification zone (ADIZ) over Taiwan, deployed PLA naval vessels near islands claimed by Japan, and rejected a Philippine request to arbitrate a maritime dispute under international law. Shina has since reclaimed land and heavily militarized islands in the South China Sea, placed an oil rig within Vietnam’s Exclusive Economic Zone, and practiced an invasion of Taiwan. The PTDO, ultimately, is hoped to serve as a deterrent against Shina.

Moscow Without Its Shadow
February 25, 2022

Vladimir Putin is dead, dying of complications stemming from COVID-19. Born in 1952, Putin worked as a KGB foreign intelligence officer for 16 years, rising to the rank of lieutenant colonel, before he began his political career in 1991. Within five years, he had moved to Moscow to join Boris Yeltsin's administration in 1996. Yeltsin, an infamous drunk, eventually resigned, and Putin became acting president in 1999.

The year Putin became acting president was also the year of several scandals in Russia. In September 1999, a series of explosions hit four apartment blocks in the Russian cities of Buynaksk, Moscow, and Volgodonsk, killing more than 300, injuring more than 1,000, and spreading a wave of fear across the country. The bombings have been linked to Putin's KGB, and strong evidence exists that he orchestrated the attack. The bombings, coupled with the invasion of Dagestan, culminated in the Second Chechen War, during which Putin authorized the use of thermobaric bombs on Chechen civilians.

Putin, who once considered joining Russia with NATO, has in recent years led the country down a path of authoritarianism and anti-globalism, anti-Westernism, and anti-democratism. From 2008 to 2012, he served as prime minister under Dmitry Medvedev. During this period, the United States under President Barack Obama famously tried to "reset relations" and work with Medvedev, bypassing Putin. The tactic failed, with it becoming apparent in 2012 when Putin returned to the presidency in an election marked by fraud and protests. Over the past decade, Putin has consolidated his power and killed or jailed his rivals. The world awaits who will succeed him in power.

Red Star Rising: Serbia Falls to the Socialists
March 13, 2022

Socialists have seized control of Serbia following Serbia's successful invasion of Kosovo. Both the EU and NATO have been silent as to this unraveling situation, but observers speculate that Aleksander Vulin's seizure of the country will likely further destabilize the Balkans.

While the political situation still is unknown in Russia, whoever emerges on top likely will see Serbia as an ally. The 2013 Strategic Partnership Declaration between Serbia and Russia strengthened political ties between the nations, with approximately seventy bilateral treaties covering trade, energy, military, and cultural cooperation existing. Serbia is firmly within Russia's sphere in the Balkans, and has been centuries.

In other global news, Saif Gaddafi has successfully consolidated most of North Africa, following his invasions of Tunisia, Algeria, and then Morocco. Gaddafi has named this new nation the Jamahiriya after his father's writings. In 1977, Gaddafi's father, Muammar Gaddafi, formed the Jamahiriya that lasted until his overthrow in 2011. It is unclear how exactly Saf Gaddafi will rule, but by all accounts his regime is expected to continue his father's doctrine. The defeat of three internationally-backed governments spells further embarrassment for Western forces.

Cape to Chaos
March 23, 2022

Another war has broken out on the African continent--South Africa has fallen into civil war, with five competing factions. In recent years, South Africa has aligned with Russia and China by joining BRICS, so the civil war is not necessarily in their favor unlike so many other wars that have occurred in recent years.

First, the Cape Emergency Government, led by General Charles Laubscher of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF). West political operatives secretly hope that the military under General Laubscher takes command, as he has a demonstrated pro-Western stance, which is a shrinking position in modern day South Africa.

Second, the Republic of South Africa, led by Cyril Ramaphosa of the ANC. As the head of ANC, Ramaphosa controls the forces of the internationally-backed Republic of South Africa. He also happens to be the owner of McDonald's South Africa.

Third, the Afrikaner Weerstandsbeweging, led by Steyn von Ronge. The AWB is an Afrikaner nationalist, white supremacist, and neo-Nazi political party in South Africa founded in 1973. Its previous leader, Terre'Blanche, was murdered by an employee on his farm.

Fourth, the Economic Freedom Fighters, led by Julius Malema. The EFF is a communist political party known for the red berets and military-style outfits worn by its members

Fifth, the Zulu Kingdom, led by Misuzulu Zulu. Zulu recently was appointed as king of the Zulu nation in May 2021. Misuzulu is the second-son of former King Goodwill Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu. Now the Zulu Kingdom makes a play for independence from South Africa.

Countdown to Revision: Nippon Rearms
April 13, 2022

Following the creation of the Pacific Defense Treaty Organization (PTDO), Nippon lawmakers began to focus on revising Article 9. As discussed previously, Article 9 is the codification of pacifism in Nippon. It renounces war as a sovereign right of the nation and prohibits the maintenance of armed forces or other war potential. There is, however, much left interpretation, and over the past several decades Article 9 has been interpreted to permit the creation of the Self-Defense Forces, permit in limited circumstances the deployment of peacekeepers, and so forth. Each time, the pacifists protest. But, the pacifists lost the election.

Now it is time to carry out what Shinzo Abe set out to accomplish--revising Article 9 and expanding the Nippon military. The question, however, is it too late? Shina activity has been on the rise. Their air and sea intrusions into Taiwan airspace and seaspace occur daily. WeChat is flooded with commentary from pro-nationalists calling for the invasion of Taiwan. The drums of war beat louder.

Nippon's leaders feel the clock is ticking. Diplomats still speak of peace, but in Beijing, the tone has shifted--less diplomatic, more defiant. Something is coming. Whether Nippon can rearm in time, or if Article 9 will stand as a tombstone over a fallen state, remains to be seen.

The Third Siege of New York
April 15, 2022

The Patriot Front has entered New York City.

For weeks, helicopters circled above Manhattan, broadcasting messages from the provisional government: "Hold the line. Help is coming." But help never came.

Cut off from the mainland by naval blockades and scorched bridges, New York stands alone. Now Thomas Rousseau's masked legions--flag-draped, booted, disciplined--march through the outer boroughs. Their ideology, a distinctly American strain of fascism, preaches tradition, hierarchy, and selective reverence for the Founding Fathers. Brutality cloaked in patriotism.

The NYPD has not surrendered. Rooftop sniper teams, entrenched machine gun nests in high-rises, and a patchwork militia of former citizens and first responders have turned Midtown into a kill zone. But ammunition runs low. Morale is shattered. The Empire State Building was struck last night in a barrage of mortar fire--symbolism and signal.

In Michigan, the National Socialist Movement seized the state with iron discipline, their black flags flying over burned-out city halls. Compared to them, the Patriot Front speaks softly. But it still carries the iron rod. Make no mistake--this is not liberation. It is occupation.

As fascism spreads like wildfire through a fractured America, New York, once the beating heart of liberal democracy, stands at the brink. The third siege has begun. And there may not be a fourth.

From Pacifism to Preparation
April 28, 2022

The message from Tokyo is unambiguous: prepare Taiwan for war.

For too long, Nippon has watched the balance of power in the Pacific tilt eastward. With America retreating from its post-WWII role as the world's arbiter, Taiwan has been left dangerously exposed. Beijing's war drums thunder with growing confidence. The intrusions, the drills, the rhetoric--they're no longer warnings. They're promises.

Now, at last, Nippon acts.

Military advisers from the Self-Defense Forces have touched down in Taipei, marking a historic reversal of postwar policy. For decades, Nippon's Article 9 served as a chain--now it's being broken, link by link. Those advisers are not just teachers; they are the vanguard of a newly awakened military state.

Joint training programs have begun with the Republic of China Armed Forces. Live-fire exercises simulate Shina’s beach assaults. Civilians in Kaohsiung and Taichung are being drilled in shelter protocol. Production of everything from drone systems to shoulder-launched anti-air has tripled. Nippon's private defense sector, long stagnant, is roaring to life. Mitsubishi’s tank lines hum through the night. Type 10 MBTs roll out like clockwork. Daikin and Howa factories now operate under near wartime conditions.

Taiwan’s generals know the clock is ticking. And Nippon’s prime minister has made it clear: Taiwan will not face Shina alone. Not anymore.

The Pacific is changing. A new alliance rises.

The Sandinista Gambit
June 21, 2022

The socialist states of Nicaragua and Honduras have invaded the right-wing states of El Salvador, Guatemala, and Belize in a socialist attempt to unite Central America under one flag. Ortega was the 54th and 58th president of Nicaragua, reigning from 1985 to 1990 and from 2007 to present. He was a leader in the Sandinista National Liberation Front that overthrew American-backed Anastasio Somoza Debayle in 1979. Under his tenure, Nicaragua has experienced democratic backsliding, and beginning in 2021 he has jailed many political opponents.

With the collapse of America, he sees opportunity, and the Nicaraguan military has relative experience from fighting U.S.-backed contra rebels in the 80s. It remains to be seen whether his fight to unite Central America will be successful.

Narcos, Guerrillas, Mormons, and the President
July 2, 2022

After months of strife, Mexico too has fallen to civil war, with eight factions competing with one another for rule of North America's third largest economy.

First, the United Mexican States, led by Andres Obrador. This is the internationally-backed Mexican government, and they are based out of Mexico City.

Second, La Resistencia, led by Servando Martinez. Martinez is a Mexican drug lord and former leader of the Knights Templar Cartel, a criminal organization based in the state of Michoacan. In June 2019, he was sentenced to 55 years incarceration, but with the fall of Mexico and outbreak of inmates, he's back.

Third, Zapatista Army of National Liberation, led by Subcomandante Marcos. Zapatista is a far-left political and militant group that, pre-war, controlled a substantial amount of territory in Chiapas, the southernmost state of Mexico. It has been nominally at war with the Mexican state since 1994.

Fourth, Cartel del Golfo, led by Luis Blanco. The Gulf Cartel is a criminal syndicate, drug trafficking organization, and perhaps one of the oldest organized crime groups in Mexico. Their network is international, and is believed to have dealings with crime groups in Europe, West Africa, Asia, Central America, South America, and the United States.[8][9] Besides drug trafficking, the Gulf Cartel operates through protection rackets, assassinations, extortions, kidnappings, and other criminal activities.

Fifth, Cartel de Jalisco Nueva Generacio, led by Nemesio Cervantes. The cartel has been characterized by extreme violence and public relations campaigns. Though the CJNG is known for diversifying into various criminal rackets, drug trafficking (primarily cocaine and methamphetamine) remains its most profitable activity. The cartel has been noted for cannibalizing some victims during the training of new sicarios or members, as well as using drones and rocket-propelled grenades to attack enemies.

>>2061429
Sixth, Sinaloa Cartel, led by Ovidio Guzman Lopez. Ovidio is the son of JoaquΓn "El Chapo" GuzmΓ‘n, once considered Mexico's most-wanted drug lord and the world's most-wanted criminal. The Sinaloa Cartel specializes in illegal drug trafficking and money laundering and is marked by evolution from a small crime syndicate to one of the most powerful and violent drug trafficking organizations in the world. The United States Intelligence Community, before the collapse of America, considered the cartel to be the largest and most powerful drug trafficking organization in the world, perhaps more influential than Pablo Escobar's Medellin Cartel of Colombia during its prime.

Seventh, Nuevo Casas Grandes, led by Ulisses Soares. Soares is a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, a part of the Mormon church hierarchy. This holdout of Mormons in northern Mexico is not hostile to the Mexican government, but is hostile to its surrounding cartel neighbors.

The Inevitable Return: Medvedev’s Mandate
July 19, 2022

Dmitry Medvedev has won the Russian elections. In a three-way match between the fascist Liberal Democratic Party of Russia led by Vladimir Zhirinovsky (who once said during a rally: "Help us, and you'll never have to vote again! I'm not saying, 'Vote for us and maybe in 20 years' time somebody will do something.' No, these will be the last elections! The last ones!") and the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, which would have sought a return of the Soviet Union, and Medvedev, who led Putin's party, United Russia, Medvedev has expectedly come out on top. Analysts suspect that things will continue as normal for Russia in the coming years, though there is a chance that Medvedev might seek to democratize Russia, that is unlikely with his increasingly authoritarian views since his presidency a decade ago.

The Siege of Formosa Begins
August 11, 2022

In the early hours of August 11, Shinese ships move into position, surrounding Taiwan and the Kinmen Islands. This signals the first major move Shina has coordinated against Taiwan, and can only be seen as a precursor to war. Nippon is prepared, however, and for the past month has shipped much of the Self-Defense Force to Taiwan to protect it from Shina invasion in an historic deployment.

Nippon infantry huddle in concrete bunkers alongside Australian and Taiwanese soldiers on the coast. Modern Type-10 main battle tanks are consolidated just beyond the beaches, ready to storm forward to assault any invading Shina force.

What the Nippon ground forces primarily lack is airpower. The pacifist sentiments regarding Article 9 assured that, with Nippon military production only increasing to acceptable levels in the past month. The combined might of the PTDO may not be enough to outfight Shina.

This is not a drill. The Shinese dragon has begun to coil. But Taiwan no longer stands alone.

Nippon Readies the Fleets
August 16, 2022

The helicopter carriers of the Nippon Maritime Forces have undergone full conversion--no longer staging grounds for rotorcraft, they now serve their true purpose: launching jet fighters into the Pacific skies. Their decks now carry a formidable loadout--2nd and 4th generation Anti-Surface Warfare aircraft and versatile 3rd generation multirole fighters.

The Nippon fleet currently has 5 carriers, 2 missile cruisers, 32 destroyers, 37 frigates, and 13 corvettes. Approximately 24 ships come from purchases with the U.S. Naval Command headquartered in Alaska.

The ships are split into six fleets, five of which will be patrolling the Yellow Sea, East China Sea, and South China Sea. The sixth and largest fleet, comprised of the bulk of the Nippon surface fleet, will act as the strike force, to pursue the main Shina fleet(s) as they appear and are spotted by the smaller patrol fleets.

Meanwhile, the submarine fleets will carry out convoy raiding operations in the aforementioned seas, to strike at any Shina troop transports that are spotted.

Every landing craft sunk delays an invasion. Every convoy destroyed chips away at the enemy’s momentum.

The seas are vast. The fleets are preparing. War looms.

Operation Skywall: The Defensive Air Doctrine of Nippon
August 18, 2022

In preparation for the looming Pacific conflict, the Nippon Air Command has finalized its wartime doctrine: hold the home skies at all costs.

While the ground shakes in Taiwan and the seas boil with fleet maneuvers, Nippon’s air wings have received a different order. The 249 fighter aircraft of the Self-Defense Air Force will not deploy to Formosa. There are simply too few jets, and no margin for waste. Sending them into the heavily contested Taiwanese skies would be suicide. Better to keep them where they can matter.

The fighter jets Nippon does have can protect the Nippon industry throughout the war. The airfleet, numbering 249 fighter jets, is ordered to intercept enemy strategic bombers over Nippon. The Close Air Support planes, numbering 72, will remain grounded throughout the war.

Cocaine and Kalashnikovs: The Colombian Collapse
September 25, 2022

Yet another nation has collapsed in civil war. Colombia joins the countries facing intense civil strife as it splits into four factions. Each bloc, however, contains a moderate cartel presence.

First, the Republic of Colombia, led by Juan Barragan under a military junta. From 2014-17, Barragan served as the Commandant of Colombian Armed Forces. Since 2018, he has been the ambassador to South Korea, but upon hearing news of factional fighting across the nation, he quietly flew back to Colombia and reached out to his military contacts. He leads the most internationally-accepted regime among the factions.

Second, the National Liberation Army (ELN), led by Antonio Garcia. The ELN is a far-left guerrilla insurgency group involved in the continuing Colombian conflict, which has existed in Colombia since 1964. The ELN has been classified as a terrorist organization by numerous Western nations.

Third, the Self-Defense Forces of Colombia, led by Dario Usuga. The Self-Defense Forces is a far-right paramilitary and drug trafficking group. Its leader, Usuga, has been accused of sending dozens of shipments of cocaine to the United States, killing police officers, recruiting minors, and sexually abusing children, among other crimes.

Fourth, Carlos Patino Front, led by Ivan Marquez. The CPF, also known as the FARC dissidents, are formerly part of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), who have refused to lay down their arms after the Colombian peace process came into effect in 2016, or resumed their insurgency afterwards. FARC dissidents have been responsible for several attacks on the Colombian armed forces. These fighters are believed to be heavily involved in the production and sale of cocaine.

7% of people live on <1,000,000jpy a year ($6,900) and the median is only 2,300,000jpy which is pretty staggeringly low but japan is cheap
apartments are cheap; i saw them listed in the street tokyo and kyoto for 60,000 a month and i'm sure there are even cheaper ones
they practically give away food and your statement that they can't afford rice is patently laughable when you can buy 5kg for 3000 yen and for 1,000 yen you can find curry places with free rice refills and possibly free cabbage too
even the absolute bottom of society can afford to eat and not be homeless, which is more than can be said of most places
the country is safe and clean and there are job listings in subways and many stores so if anyone is literally dying of poverty in japan it's because they either can't or wont work in construction, 7/11, or a cafe
pensions wont exist outside of norway, switzerland, and the like in 30 years - japan isn't unique in this regard even if they are a decade ahead
it's true that japanese people feel poor but this is entirely because their currency is weak since they import a lot and export little
internally they are fine outside of the fact that state pensions, which were always a time bomb destined to fail, are going to evaporate

Flashpoint Kinmen: Prelude to Invasion
November 5, 2022

Time: 5:00 JST

The first domino has fallen.

Shina PLA marines and paratroopers confirmed the seizure of the Kinmen Islands after a quick and successful operation against Taiwanese forces. Taiwanese defenses, outnumbered and outgunned, were overwhelmed in a swift and brutal engagement.

The Kinmen Islands are located only 10 km (6 mi) east from the Shina city of Xiamen.

Shina attempted to seize the Islands in October 1949, during which thousands of PRC soldiers were captured and killed. They would try again in the days of the Korean War, when hundreds of ROC soldiers defeated a PRC invasion attempt of 700. During the 1960 U.S. presidential elections, candidates J.F.K. and Nixon differed on whether the U.S. should protect the "Quemoy (Kinmen) and Matsu" island chains, with Nixon urging complete support for the Republic of China and all territorial possession she maintained.

The fall of Kinmen guarantees that this blockade of Taiwan is no mere intimidation tactic, as some pacifist groups have suggested, but the precursor to all-out war.

Nippon has reinforced the island chain of Senkaku, to which Shina also lays claim. If Shina invades Taiwan, it is expected they will make an invasion attempt of Okinawa and Senkaku. Soldiers with barely any training have been stripped from the academies, handed small arms, and sent to fortification sites. Divisions with only a third of the MBTs they should have are expected to hold the islands against Shina invasion.

This is no longer a regional dispute isolated to Taiwan. It is the opening chapter of a Pacific war.

Every hour counts now in preparing for the formal declaration of war and main invasion by PRC troops.

A Nation in Mourning: Shinzo Abe Assassinated
November 21, 2022

Shinzo Abe assassinated. The world reacts in shock.

Earlier in the day, a man by the name of Tetsuya Yamagami walked up to Shinzo Abe, who was speaking at a political event outside Yamato-Saidaiji Station in Nara City, Nara Prefecture.

While Abe was delivering his speech, the perpetrator approached Abe within several meters, despite security presence. The gun was homemade and resembled a sawed-off, double-barreled shotgun and was capable of firing six pellets at a time. The first shot missed. The second shot did not, and struck Abe in the neck and chest. By the time Abe reached Nara Medical University Hospital, he was reported to have no vital signs.

The perpetrator claimed that he was driven by a grudge against the Unification Church for ruining his family. Even though he originally planned to target Hak Ja Han, then president of the church, he was unable to approach her, so he switched to Shinzo Abe, who he believed was "one of the most influential sympathisers" of the church.

This was the first of a major political figure in Nippon since Inejiro Asanuma's assassination in 1960. With Nippon already rearing from Shina's imminent invasion, the loss of one of the most beloved political figures in modern day Nippon has taken a heavy toll on the country and morale.

First off the city "Byzantium" was replaced by the Emperor Constantine in the 4th century. There was never a "Byzantine" empire.
Second The Roman Empire was the longest lasting european empire in history with probably the largest impact on the western world.
Third The Eastern Empire was the economic, cultural, social, and military center of the greater roman world. I have no idea why the w*st*rn empire agreed to that particular division. Gaul, Iberia, Numidia, Britain, and Germany are all terrrible provinces and Italy by itself is nothing compared to Egypt, Greece, and Annatolia.
Fourth the Roman Emperor upheld Christianity, and the western way of life for over a thousand years until the dark times...until the pope worshiping backstabbers sacked the city during the 4th (((crusade)))
Fifth it is your solemn duty, as a student of history and a steward of grand strategy, to safeguard the true Empire of Christ on Earth. To restore His Holy Empire to it's rightful place as King of the Christian Kings, and to destroy the unwashed hordes of pagans and put down the heretical mudslimes once and for all.
Go forth Basileu, strike down the pompous and ambition roman pontifex, suppress the independant barbarian "kings" of europe, destroy the nomadic savages of the north, rescue the land of Christ from the sword of Islam, end the endless hordes of the east, and return the world to Peace, and Justice under your righteous rule.

The Opening Shot of the Pacific War
December 15, 2022

Time: 1:00 JST

Taiwan wakes to fire.

In the dead of night, Shina unleashes its opening salvo: coordinated missile strikes ripple across the island, targeting key infrastructure with chilling precision. Missile strikes hit infrastructure across Taiwan. Military installations, highways, naval ports, pillboxes, all hit from Shina launches located around Taiwan. National Freeway 1, once named the MacArthur Thruway, especially was hit. The missile strikes cause thousands of casualties and several deaths.

The night is clear. The illuminated surface of the moon is at 58% and getting smaller by the day. Shina could have chosen a better time, but now is better than a month from now.

Nippon managed to ferry over her last division to Taiwan in the preceding days. Half-trained and missing more than half of its MBTs, the division can simply provide covering support against a Shina landing force. Its role is clear: buy time, bleed the enemy, hold the line.

Nikkei 225 futures have plummeted. Polymarket has odds in Shina's favor of winning the war, let alone a war happening in the first place. But the mood in Tokio surprisingly is optimistic. Some doom and gloom posts on 2ch as usual, with one user going so far as to ask "Why does Japan have a military in 2022? We're literally on the verge of collapse." But the rest of the country has found hope that Nippon can pull off a victory here and reclaim its status that it lost after the tragic mistake of the Second World War.

The first missiles have fallen. The world watches.

And Japan remembers what it means to stand on the edge.

Shina formally declares war on the Republic of China. In the next two hours, Japan will formally join Taiwan and declare war on the People's Republic of China, and it is expected that within two hours after that, Australia will join in the war on the side of the PTDO.

The last three days have involved a series of further missile salvos by Shina and frantic attempts by Taiwan and Nippon to engage diplomatically with Shina to stop this madness.

And madness it is. The PRC is about to send hundreds of thousands of inexperienced soldiers across the East China Sea onto the beaches of Taiwan, where they will be shuffled into mined killzones. Even if they succeed in pushing back the Australian-Nipponese-Taiwanese defenses, thousands will die.

The future of the Pacific hangs in the balance.

First Contact: East China Sea
December 19, 2022
Time: 11:00 JST

Seven submarines of the Nippon Maritime Forces, under the command of Rear Admiral Ryoko Azuma, have made contact. While conducting patrol operations east of the Chinese mainland, Azuma’s wolfpack sighted a massive convoy formation: dozens of transport ships brimming with troops, flanked by a significant escort of Shina warships: corvettes, destroyers, and at least one missile cruiser. The information is immediately sent to Naval Headquarters in Chugoku.

Where could they be headed?

In response, the main surface fleet of the Nippon Maritime Forces has been ordered to ready for immediate sortie. If Admiral Azuma’s submarines can maintain contact long enough, and the main fleet can intercept the convoy before Shina carrier groups establish air cover, the results could be decisive.

The Battle of the East China Sea may be about to begin.

The fleets are moving. The war is no longer theoretical.

Let the record show: it started here.

no i don't know the current meta and no i didn't get far at all in the full game
but i heard a lot of hearsay like the devs took the game into a shitty direction by making mechanics all retarded and making most of the factions too hard to play and making the early game (being stuck on a planet, endless rolling of agent operational attempts) too long and repetitive
go to a terra invicta thread in either /vg/ or if you can't find one there go look at the one in /vst/ and you'll see all the complaining for yourself

The Beaches Ignite
December 20, 2022
Time: 20:00 JST

As the naval war begins, so too does the land war.

Earlier this evening, satellite and SIGINT confirmed the deployment of Shina invasion forces from multiple Type 071 amphibious transport docks off the coasts of Tainan, Taiwan and Miyako Island, Okinawa Prefecture. From these vessels, Type 726 Yuyi-class air-cushioned landing craft surged toward shore, with each carrying squads of 60-70 troops and one main battle tank or two infantry fighting vehicles.

Crashing through the thick waves, the boats succeeded in their initial attempt at landing Shina soldiers on Taiwan soil. This, Shina had planned for and expected. The Shina soldier trained for this. What the Shina soldier did not train for, and could not train for, was then seeing his comrade incinerated by .50 BMG (12.7Γ—99mm NATO) gunfire from well-stocked and positioned Nipponese Sumitomo Type-62 heavy machine guns located just in range of the beachheads.

It was a massacre. The Shina soldier had no experience for coming under real fire and seeing his comrades die around him and attempt to make ground. But, to their credit, they tried.

In Tainan, six Shina divisions attack. The Shinese ground invasion faces an uphill battle of first getting past the beachhead, and then fighting through an urban sprawl.

In Miyako Island, five Shina divisions attack. Their task is slightly easier in that past the beachheads are plains, which makes it easier to attack, but Miyako Island is also fortified with cement and steel to prevent Shina assaults from succeeding.

Blood now has been shed, and the first images and videos taken from restricted and prohibited personal Apple and Samsung phones share the war with the Nippon citizenry back home. Everyone, in a sense, is in the fight now.

Flames on Okinawa
December 22, 2022
Time: 22:00 JST

A third Shina invasion force strikes, this time at Naha, the main island in the Okinawa island chain. Despite heavy machine gun and artillery cutting down Shina soldiers as they land on the beach, they press forward. Here, the Nippon infantry are relatively inexperienced compared to the Shina invasion soldiers. In one division, they had only received a quarter of the training they needed before they were hauled out of their barracks and deployed to Okinawa.

The Shina invasion plan seems to operate as this: Seize the Nippon islands of Okinawa and Senkaku, surround Taiwan, and seize Taiwan itself. Shina is ignoring the main Nippon islands and not extending the war beyond Okinawa. This leaves some breathing room for Nippon--no matter the outcome, the home islands are safe from annexation.

But, they are not completely safe. As soon as the war began, Shina strategic bombers began making sorties against main cities on the homeland. So far damage has been limited, as the assigned fighter squadrons have driven them off. But the Nipponese have learned to use blackout curtains at night and take other such necessary precautions.

Meanwhile, in numerous locations across the seas, Nippon ships battle against the Shina surface fleets.

The warfront has widened. From Taiwan to Okinawa, the line is stretched, and the blood of a generation stains the soil of southern Nippon.

The battle for the Pacific is entering its crucible.

Victory off Taipei
December 25, 2022
Time: 2:00 JST

While the cities of Nippon sleep beneath blackout curtains and the scent of Christmas fried chicken begins to waft from corner convenience stores, news arrives that may mark a turning point in the war.

Off the coast of northern Taiwan, the Battle of Taipei has concluded in a decisive Nipponese naval victory--the first of its kind in over a century.

At approximately 20:00 JST on December 24th, elements of the People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) attempted to push a surface strike group into the Taiwan Strait to reinforce land operations near Tamsui and Keelung. However, Nipponese forces, guided by early warning aircraft and forward-deployed submarines, were waiting.

In the ensuing naval battle, Shina lost 22 Type 056 Jiangdao-class corvettes, 4 Type 052D Luyang III-class destroyers, and 1 Type 054A Jiangkai II-class light frigate. Nippon lost 1 submarine.

Nippon's carrier doctrine has had a stunning success. Her aircraft played a decisive role in the battle, demonstrating once again the strength of airpower in modern naval engagements.

Admiral Akira Saito reported in a post-battle communique:
>"This battle was not won by steel alone, but by doctrine, by readiness, and by the pilots who turned flight decks into firestorms."

The Pacific has not yet been won, but tonight, it leans toward Nippon.

Fire on All Fronts
December 29, 2022
Time: 1:00 JST

Shina is fully committed. She invades southern Taiwan with 24 divisions and the Nippon Senkaku and Okinawa islands with 22 divisions. Nippon divisions located in northern Taiwan are relocating south. In Naha, a sole Nippon division defends against 7 Shina mechanized and armored divisions. In most places, Nippon is winning. But not everywhere. There are too many battles, and not enough ammunition to go around.

In the Yellow Sea, 22 convoy troop ships were intercepted and destroyed. Thousands dead. The news hits Nippon, and millions celebrate.

Naval battles here and there show that the Nippon fleet is whittling down Shina's surface fleets. Nippon will seize control of the East China Sea, but it will take time. It already has control as of today's date of the South China Sea.

Another naval victory in Nippon's fight against Shina has occurred in the East China Sea. Seven corvettes, five light frigates, and two destroyers were destroyed by Nippon fleets.

A few days earlier, Shina lost 19 convoy ships to an attack by the Nippon navy.

Shina is rapidly losing material and manpower. Her naval invasions of the Nipponese island chains of Senkaku and Okinawa have failed, with thousands dead on the blood-stained beaches. Shina has yet to breach Nippon and Taiwan defenses. The military holds, for now.

The Long Shadow of Saddam: Civil War Returns to Iraq
January 10, 2023

Iraq collapses under the weight of its religion and cultural tension into outright civil war. If there were American international analysts left, they might look on in horror as trillions of dollars and a decade worth of effort went up in smokes across shattered Iraq.

First, the Republic of Iraq, led by Abdul Rashid. This is the Western-backed, internationally recognized government of Iraq. It has an Islamic democratic-style government, and its victory would see a continuation of the policies set forth by Iraq since the withdrawal of American troops in 2011.

Second, the Naqshbandi Order, led by Izzat al-Douri of the Iraqi Ba'ath Party. This is the same party of Saddam Hussein, and it is rumored that his daughter, Raghad Hussein, might vie for power should al-Douri and his forces succeed in seizing Iraq.

Third, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, led by Qais Khazali. Iran backs this Sharia faction with military and diplomatic support. Should it succeed in the civil war, it is likely to enter into an alliance with Iran.

Fourth, the Sadrist Movement, led by Muqtada al-Sadr. This faction is Sharia as well, but it is not backed by Iran. Al-Sadr is considered a populist by Western observers.

Yet another sweeping success for the Nippon navy.

Nippon’s main strike group, led by the carrier IJN Amaterasu and screened by heavy destroyers and corvettes, intercepted a major Shina naval convoy en route to reinforce the southern Taiwan front. The convoy, protected by a significant escort of Shina People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) surface warships, was attempting to push through under cover of darkness and light air overwatch. It failed.

After nearly eight hours of radar-guided maneuver warfare, anti-ship missile salvos, and surgical airstrikes from Nippon carrier-based jets, the waters were decisively claimed by Nippon.

Several Shina ships sank into the waters; thousands of Shina sailors drowned. Tens of thousands of Shina soldiers went into the water and failed to be rescued.

Shina losses are heavy:
>4 Type 052D Luyang III-class destroyers
>17 Type 054A Jiangkai II-class light frigates
>3 Type 056A Jiangdao-class corvettes
>1 Type 055 Renhai-class missile cruiser
>30 Yuzhao-class and Yuting-class troop transports

Nippon quickly is establishing a tradition of success in this war. Her fleets and armies are thus far undefeated in the water and field.

Let the record show:
Shina tried to take the sea. The sea took them instead.

The Hong Kong Revolution
May 8, 2023

Revolutionaries still upset over the 2019 Hong Kong extradition bill have revolted under Shina control and seized the city of Hong Kong, forming militia divisions. This comes as a terrible time for Shina in her now-futile war to seize Taiwan.

No news has been good for Nippon (and Taiwan). Other than the occasional sinking of a supply convoy, or smashing a lone destroyer, there has not been much activity from Shina since January and early February. Thirteen convoys were destroyed in mid-to-late January, and a grouping of approximately 5-6 destroyers were destroyed around that time, too. It would seem that was the last breath of the mighty Shina Empire, for this war at least.

According to official reports, Shina has suffered 173,000 casualties, with Nippon suffering approximately 3,000. These are not perfect measurements, however, and Shina's true number of casualties is unknown.

The revolutionaries in Hong Kong, unfortunately, are not expected to win their revolt. Mechanized and armored Shina divisions are already en route to put down the revolution. But in revolting against Shina, they make a stand, and maybe someday they will enter the history books as a moment Hong Kong fought back.

Victory at Last
May 16, 2023

The war ends. Shina, having suffered numerous setbacks and reeling from the loss of thousands of soldiers and sailors, along with heavy equipment, tanks, IFVs, APCs, artillery, not to mention her surface fleet, has thrown in the towel. Xi Jinping's gamble has failed, horribly.

Rumor has it that the Taiwan War was Xi's personal crusade, attempt at Shina imperialism to reclaim the lost islands. Now it seems that hope is gone forever.

Peace formally is signed in Manila, Philippines. The terms are expected, formal withdrawal of Shina's forces from Taiwan and Nippon waters. Respect and adherence to their respective air and naval space. The list goes on. It essentially is a white peace, without significant territorial changes or even indemnities. Except, of course, Taiwan's position--while it keeps its name of the Republic of China, it de facto is independent even more-so than pre-war.

In the final days of the war, a lone Shina carrier was caught in the open water as it transported ports. The Type-002 Aircraft Carrier Shandong quickly was destroyed; this was the final embarrassment to the Shina navy, and the last cheer for Nippon before peace was established.

With the Manila Peace Treaty in place, Taiwan is free to look at its future as an independent nation. Nippon is free finally to begin working on formally ridding itself of Article 9, the pacifist amendment to its constitution. It has been weakened, but it still lingers. But for now, jubilance has spread from Tokio to Taipei to Canberra.

In the first sign that all is not well in the state of Shina, its province of Xinjiang has broken out in revolt. Famously, from the 1990s to the 2010s, the East Turkestan independence movement, separatist conflict and the influence of radical Islam have resulted in unrest in the region with occasional terrorist attacks and clashes between separatist and government forces. Now, with the failure of the Taiwan War and massive unrest throughout Shina, Xinjiang splinters from the country and breaks into four competing factions.

First, the East Turkestan Republic, led by Mamtimin Ala. Dr. Mamtimin Ala is an Australian Uyghur based in Sydney, Australia, and currently serves as the President of the East Turkistan Government in Exile. He managed to find his way into Xinjiang and now leads the East Turkestan Republic separatist movement. His movement is western-backed.

Second, the Xinjiang Autonomous Region, led by Chen Quanguo. Quanguo is a retired politician who was the Party Secretary of Tibet from 2011 to 2016 and the Party Secretary of Xinjiang from 2016 to 2021. He leads the pro-Shina forces that would see Xinjiang annexed back into Shina should they succeed.

Third, the East Turkestan Liberation Organization, led by Zuhayr Salameh. The ETLO is another secessionist Uyghur organization that advocates for an independent Uyghur state, but with a salafist bent. Salafism is a conservative religious movement within Sunni Islam that aims to purify the faith by emulating the practices of the early, righteous generations of Muslims (the Salaf).

Fourth, Hizb ut-Tahrir, led by Ghunwah Yassin. This faction is another pro-salafist movement and is an international pan-Islamist and Islamic fundamentalist political organization whose stated aim is the re-establishment of the Islamic caliphate to unite the Muslim community and implement sharia globally.

The Intervention Force
July 4, 2023

The decision has been made. Two experienced armored divisions that fought in the Taiwan War will be shipped into Xinjiang through the Indian border. Indian-Nippon relations have swelled in recent years, and especially since Nippon's victory over Shina. Nations across the world are waking up and viewing Nippon in a different light.

The intervention force's goal is simple: support and preserve the armed forces of the East Turkestan Republic. Aid Dr. Mamtimin Ala in his goal of independence for the East Turkestan Republic.

Attached is a news report unrelated to the intervention.

Fat Man and Little Boy
July 6, 2023

The two advisers cast long shadows before the offices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tokio as the sun peaked over their shoulders. One stood much taller, girthier, than the other, who was slim, wiry, and short. There was a definite difference in appearance between the two: the bigger man was older and had experience etched in the lines of his face and grayness in his hair, while the thinner, shorter man was much younger, almost youthful in his appearance.

They met directly with Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi, who sat on Prime Minister Fumio Kishida's Cabinet and wielded considerable influence over Nippon foreign affairs.

The little man attempted an awkward bow, offering a well-practiced "Konnichiwa." The wrong greeting for the occasion, but Foreign Minister Hayashi took no offense. The bigger man offered no bow and simply said, "You must be Hayashi." This made F.M. Hayashi bristle slightly, but he maintained his pleasantries with the man and introduced himself formally.

"I'll get down to it. The Patriot Front sent us, and it needs Japan's assistance." The bigger man wasted no time. "We've consolidated most of New England, and we have New York. We have an alliance with Michigan, and the South is being consolidated by the League of the South and will soon be in our pocket. America is ours. We want Japan's help."

The little man beside him looked almost embarrassed at the bigger man's intrusive conduct, but he let him talk.

F.M. Hayashi took a moment to respond before saying, through translators, that whilst Nippon graciously thanks the advisers, her attention is focused for the time on Asia and the Pacific. F.M. Hayashi did not comment on the fascist authoritarianism of the Patriot Front or the rumors of massacres that had occurred by them.

The bigger man frowned. He had come all this way for nothing. He stood to leave.

F.M. Hayashi rose and, in English, said:
>"Mr. Bannon, Mr. Shkreli, thank you for your time."

The American Situation
July 6, 2023

For two years, the Second American Civil War has raged across America. Cities lay in ruins, millions are dead, and refugee centers across the world are brimming with Americans who have lost everything in the crisis. Numerous factions have fallen, and some regional forces have consolidated their territories.

First, the United Front. The Patriot Front and the Nationalist Socialist Movement out of Michigan have united in an alliance called the National Front, a cousin to the Nationalist Front that existed from 2016-2018. They watch the war in the Deep South between the growing League of the South (LotS) and the Southern Federal Command, which is on its last legs. A formal invitation by the National Front may be extended for LotS to join them.

Second, the Atomwaffen Division continues to fight Ron DeSantiis's state national guard. If they do not overcome Florida state soon, they might find themselves at war with the LotS.

Third, the American People's Liberation Army (APLA) has consolidated California under its rule. Currently led by Michael Prysner, the "American Zhukov" as the APLA calls him. Prysner only temporarily leads the APLA until a faction emerges, which has yet to occur. Nobody knows the APLA's next steps.

Fourth, Cascadia consolidated the Pacific Northwest, and the ethnonationalist Rinaldo Nazzaro seized control. He renamed the faction the Northwest Territorial Imperative.

Fifth, the Kingdom of Zion is the largest of four factions fighting in Utah-Nevada-Idaho. It appears poised to win the brawl, but the mountainous terrain may make that difficult.

Sixth, state forces have defeated insurrectionists in Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. They watch the war between the two main governments from the sidelines.

Seventh, Biden's Union of America continues its war against Trump's American Constitutional Government. The major city of St. Louis has been captured by the UoA, otherwise it is a slow drudge across the plains.

Armament Production
July 6, 2023

Nippon has 115 factories, 67 of which are civilian factories, 15 naval dockyards, and 41 military factories. The 41 military factories are split among the following armaments.

The Taiwan War and the buildup preceding it created numerus additional divisions that are still at less-than-full strength. For now, Nippon can rest and build up those divisions to full capacity. But there is a major flaw in its military that needs to be corrected immediately--the Air Force.

During the Taiwan War, the Air Force managed to protect the homelands from Shina strategic bombers. In a future war, Nippon will need to go on the offensive. To do so requires Close Air Support (CAS), which currently number only 76, and air superiority. Nippon needs at least two or three thousand fighters to maintain regional air superiority. It has 241. Production needs to shift immediately to producing jet fighters for the security of Nippon.

The Red Throne Topples
July 12, 2023

In what should come as no surprise, the General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, Xi Jinping, has been ousted by the military following a tear of strife across Shina society.

Through the great gambit of the Taiwan War and its complete defeat, Xi and the now-former government embarrassed Shina to an inexcusable, unforgiveable extent. Nationalist fervor across WeChat demanded action. Open protests demanded Xi's resignation. Initially, Xi thought he could overcome the dissent, but the military stepped in with a coup led by Zhang Youxia.

Zhang’s coup was swift and bloodless, at least on the surface. Xi was detained, his inner circle dissolved, and the Politburo suspended. Martial law was declared in multiple provinces, and PLA units now patrol key urban centers under the banner of β€œNational Reorganization.”

Three main factions now compete for power in the vacuum left in place of Xi's ousting. The Nationalists, which would simply mean the military would maintain power, the Liberals, which see liberalizing Shina and modernizing the nation as the path forward, and the New Left, which is a movement that is critical of the economic reforms instituted under Deng Xiaoping.

The state is fractured. The next phase of the East Asian conflict will not be determined in Taipei or Tokio, but in Beijing.

Steel Across the Taklamakan
July 17, 2023

Lieutenant General Ryoji Takemoto was not happy. It was the middle of the summer, and he was deployed into the heart of one of the world's worst deserts to support what some considered to be a doomed intervention. He and the 7th and 10th Armored Divisions had traveled through Ladkh, India, the highest plateau in India at 3,000 meters, to reach Hell. And they sent vehicles the entire way. How most of the equipment managed to make it through, Takemoto will wonder to the end of his days. But they made it.

Their allies are militia with rifles and not much else. Behind enemy lines is a trapped mechanized division and some regular infantry, but what Takemoto can rely on this side of the Taklamakan Desert are mere militia units raised weeks ago.

Half his force are experienced regulars, almost veterans, but the other half are merely trained, though what training they did receive was in the fire of battle. Each has been blooded in battle; they are reliable.

The General, Yoshihide Yoshida, also is reliable. Though, he is the first General Officer not to have been taught at the National Defense Academy, he has worked his way up from Chief Sergeant to the top military command, an impressive background in the usually conservative and rigid Nippon military command structure. He is known for being an aggressive officer, which Takemoto appreciates.

Ultimately, what they do here in the Tarim Basin of Xinjiang might not even matter--Shina might choose simply to invade if the situation does not go their way. But at least Nippon is trying, and for the first time in modern history, it has sent thousands of soldiers in armed conflict against another nation. That has to count for something, even if the war's outcome is predetermined.

But it might not be, and so Takemoto and the Nippon Intervention Force rides out from Kashgar to fight Shina in its backyard.

Historically, the nation with the strongest navy has benefited economically through soft power; now, Nippon is the nation with the strongest navy, and so she has been able to wield that fact into restructured trade treaties across the globe. Japanese investment is now the most sought-after capital in Southeast Asia. The yen is stabilizing at strength levels not seen since the early 1980s. And more.

Tibet, seeing the writing on the wall, has joined Xinjiang in revolt against Shina.

In 1959, following the Communist Party's takeover of Shina, the Tibetan people revolted, and following the failed revolution, Shina abolished the Tibetan government. Today, Shina governs western and central Tibet as the Xizang Autonomous Region while the eastern areas are now mostly autonomous prefectures within Qinghai, Gansu, Yunnan and Sichuan provinces. Shina literally split Tibet into pieces.

Tibetan guerrilla activities, in part funded by the CIA and MI6, continued after 1959, but that stopped in the 1970s after U.S. President Nixon began reproachment with Shina.

After the 1970s, the last major Tibetan uprising was in 2008. Numerous protests and demonstrates took place, but no armed resistance occurred. Shina arrested over 5,600 Tibetans during the unrest. According to the Dalai Lama, over 400 people died.

The spiritual second authority to the Dalai Lama, the Panchen Lama, was discovered to be a 6-year-old boy born with the name Gedhun Choekyi Nyima. Three days after Nyima was named the 11th Pancen Lama, in 1995, Shina government forces forcibly disappeared him. He has not been seen since. Shina has since declared the 11th Panchen Lama to be another individual, who is widely considered to be a PRC puppet.

The modern Tibetan people have been broken on the wheel of Shina machinations for nearly a century. Now they fight back.

In a shocking move, the New Left movement led by Hu Chunhua has seized control of Shina and begun reindoctrinating Shina society to its principles. It is unclear what this might mean in practice, but Shina appears to be withdrawing from the notions of free enterprise and free trade that have advanced its economy so strongly in recent decades. Nippon may actually benefit from this new development.

The Second Cold War
July 28, 2023

It is as official as thinktanks and academics can determine: a new cold war exists, this time in Asia between Nippon and Shina. Some contribute Nippon's intervention in the Xinjiang revolution and the New Left's rise in Shina as primary factors, but others suggest this new reality would exist regardless of either of those events occurring.

The PTDO's official position is that it is a defensive alliance, but Shina claims it is an aggressive affront to her rightful territories in the South China Sea and the East China Sea. Taiwan is a main sticking point: Nippon no longer sees Taiwan as a separate arm of Shina but as a completely independent nation, and Nippon is treating it as such.

Nippon's growing economy is also angering Shina. Shina is suffering from severe capital flight as international investors flee the country and invest instead in Nippon. Shina views this as economic warfare, but Nippon asserts that it is the reality of global politics at this point.

Nippon, of course, is correct that she has done nothing to deserve this cold war being thrust upon it. Shina aggression, as always, continues to threaten the future and course of mankind. This new cold war is simply an extension of the imperialistic Shina attitudes it exhibited before the Taiwan War.

Shina has taken its beatings and continues to wave its sword, and Nippon ultimately will be the one to finish her off.

The Promise of East Africa
August 12, 2023

A new nation is born: the East African Federation (EAF), led by a Federation Council. The EAF is comprised of six nations in East Africa--Burundi, Kenya, South Sudan, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Uganda. The African continent has been plagued by civil strife and war, with approximately half of the country currently facing armed conflict. What the leaders of the aforementioned states seek to accomplish is lasting peace, at least for eastern Africa.

There remain, however, hurdles in that goal. Somalia is still fighting a war against the Islamic extremists since before 2020, Ethiopia is engaged in a deadlock with the Tigray Defense Forces, and Sudan recently collapsed into a civil war.

But for now, the citizenry of at least some African states can breathe a sigh of relief as the new federation has the military experience of Rwanda and the economic power of Kenya and Uganda to resist any foe that might emerge.

Some have wondered why Rwanda, with its traditional position of being fiercely independent (and being responsible for not just one Congo war but two), would join the federation. Paul Kagame must have seen the writing on the wall to make the decision to join with his neighbors rather than face the future alone.

Nippon has already begun altering the flags and names in its Dar-es-Salaam embassy to that of the EAF.

Setback in Xinjiang
September 1, 2023

The short-lived East Turkestan Republic fell today as Shina forces seized the capital of Kashgar. The Nippon intervention forces were not enough to hold back the tide of communist sldiers. Two militia divisions had just been captured by the Lieutenant General Takemoto's armored divisions when news reached them that the capital had been seized, Dr. Mamtimin Ala captured, and the republican militia were throwing down their arms in the face of overwhelming enemy superiority.

While Nippon was not defeated in the field of battle, her military considers this an embarrassing setback. The Nippon ground forces proved themselves admirably during the Taiwan War, and this was the moment it strove to prove that it could provide an intervention capability to make a difference in other regions of the world. While the armored divisions made a small logistic miracle even making it to Kashgar in the first place, it is not enough to overcome the sting of defeat. The armored divisions are on their way home, and the pacifist factions in Tokio cheer.

The Next Leader of the Free World
September 19, 2023

Some have begun calling Nippon the "leader of the free world," a title that harks back to the First Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union. The title has been used to imply a symbolic and moral leadership of liberal democracies against authoritarianism. The collapse of America has sent a ripple effect across the world. The multipolar world envisioned by Russia and Shina is closer than ever to reality. Europe has not stepped forward to don the mantle, but Nippon has in saving Taiwan from Shina encroachment.

The Pacific Defense Treaty Organization with its three members, Nippon, Taiwan, and Australia, needs to grow if it stands a chance against Shina in a real war, with boots on the ground in mainland Asia. The thought that this may have to occur reminds some of Nippon's tragic mistake of WWII. But others argue that the tragic mistake was fighting the leader of the free world, America, not invading Shina. Some argue that Nippon's conduct against Shina during the Second World War was a necessity to safeguard the security of Manchukuo Project. Regardless, Nippon officials have not refused the mantle of "leader of the free world." Instead, some have begun campaigning that it is Nippon's responsibility to the free world to shred Article 9 and shift production to a semi-wartime stance. And that argument is gaining ground within the LDP.

As a news agency, it is imperative to report to the reader some facts. Nippon has the only navy capable of defeating Shina. Nippon has the only industry in Asia that can be shifted to armament production that can pose a threat to Shina. Nippon and its people are the only force in Asia and the Pacific that has Bushido: bravery, discipline, and unwavering dedication to their duty, to that of the free world. In this light, Nippon has an obligation to the free world of Asia to protect it from the authoritarian powers seeking to shred the world order.

Given this, the PDTO must recruit allies for the security of the Asian and Pacific free world. There are several options, and each option currently holds a view of the PDTO compared to that of Shina's East Asian Defense Initiative (EADI):

>Vietnam: 30% EADI influence | 35% PDTO influence
>Laos: 70% EADI | 25% PDTO
>Cambodia: 65% EADI | 10% PDTO
>Thailand: 40% EADI | 25% PDTO
>Myanmar: In civil war
>India: Solidly pro-Nippon
>Malaysia: 25% EADI | 30% PDTO
>Singapore: 30% EADI | 25% PDTO
>Indonesia: 10% EADI | 40% PDTO
>Philippines: 10% EADI | 35% PDTO

Asia and the Pacific have become a chessboard, and Nippon must secure the key pieces quickly to control the game.

Fire in the Valley: The Kashmir Conflict Escalates
December 22, 2023

The Kashmir Conflict has erupted in war between India and Pakistan. Both nations now mobilize their militaries for full-scale engagement. The Indian Air Force sortied from air bases on multiple missions, with Dassault Rafales, among other aircraft, being sent into the fray. Meanwhile, Pakistan launched J-10 aircraft to respond, causing for the first time in recent years a clash between Europe-produced aircraft and Shinese-produced aircraft. Three Indian Rafales reportedly were shot down in the initial excurcion. Beijing's new government hopes that Pakistani successes will vindicate the Shina military industrial complex.

The ground forces of both nations have moved to engage each other. Fighting is expected to be at high-level intensity. This is no mere skirmish.

India, a traditionally nonaligned country that has shed its history of hesitance toward the West, has been buying billions of dollars in equipment from Nipponese and Western suppliers. At the same time, India has sharply reduced purchases of low-cost arms from Russia, its Cold War-era ally.

Pakistan, whose relevance to the United States and the West has waned since the end of the war in Afghanistan, is no longer buying Western equipment. Pakistan has instead turned to Shina for the vast majority of its military purchases.

The West and Nippon have cultivated India as a partner in countering Shina, while Beijing has deepened its investment in its advocacy and patronage of Pakistan as India has grown closer to the West and Nippon.

This combustible mix shows how complex and messy alliances have become as the post-World War II global order has fractured.

The Death Throes of Pacifism
February 6, 2024

To don the mantle of "leader of the free world," Nippon would have to rid itself of pacifism, permanently. With the reigning political party, LDP, comprising 74% of the National Diet of Nippon, this would not be impossible. For weeks, LDP politicians negotiated, compromised, and struck back-room deals to ensure that the party had enough votes to amend the pacifism out of the Nippon constitution. The party whip kept the LDP disciplined and focused. And finally after of political maneuvering, the vote was held to alter the constitution. It easily passed.

The only groans in the room were from the minority of pacifists still left in the Diet. The majority of the room cheered at the historic moment. For the first time since the 1940s, Nippon had the ability to arm itself for security of the nation and the free world.

Within days of that vote, Nippon shifted from a civilian economy to a partially-mobilized economy. This would mean a greater increase in the construction of military factories, fewer civilian factories devoted to producing consumer goods and instead redirected to building more military factories, and more armaments produced with the higher number of military factories created in Nippon. Defense stocks soared like never before.

Shina has not taken the news well. Beijing is eerily quiet, even as the New Red Guards take to the streets in revolutionary fervor. The New Red Guards are a mass, student-led, paramilitary social movement reminiscent of the Red Guards from Mao's days that is forcibly ripping the private enterprise from the bowels of the nation. (Jack Ma has not been seen since the rise of the New Left and is feared dead.)

Pacifism finally is dead. The rise of Nippon militarism is at hand. And that's a good thing.

A River Divides: The Dam Crisis
May 9, 2024

Since 2011, Ethiopia has been building a dam, the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, that Egypt thinks will reduce the water in the Nile and exacerbate desertification in the region. Egypt has gained the backing of local nations, including Sudan and South Sudan, in preventing this dam from completion.

Ethiopia refuses to stop building the dam.

Now Egypt is mobilizing its reserves with apparent intention of declaring war on Ethiopia and invading to stop the completion of the dam. They do so despite the lack of concrete science behind Egypt's assertions. Observers fail to see the point in this conflict, but political realities in Egypt have made the topic of Ethiopia's dam a boiling point in regional sentiment.

Ethiopia, meanwhile, continues its war against the Tigray Defense Force, and some analysts wonder whether Ethiopia has the resource to resist a second front opening against her.

Allies and Adversaries: Indonesia Joins Japan, Cambodia Aligns with China
May 12, 2024

The lines in Southeast Asia are being drawn. Indonesia formally has joined Nippon's Pacific Defense Treaty Organization (PDTO), while Cambodia entered Shina's East Asian Defense Initiative (EADI).

Indonesia is led by Prabowo Subianto, a right-wing populist. He has a background in the Indonesian military, eventually becoming a four-star army general before entering politics. Prabowo's political party, Gerindra, has been identified as a right-wing party with populist tendencies.

The Kingdom of Cambodia, meanwhile, is led by Norodom Sihamoni, the current king of Cambodia. In 2004, Sihamoni was chosen as monarch by the Royal Council of the Throne. He has been described by some as a humble monarch because of his philanthropic endeavors and is well-known for carrying out humanitarian activities. He also mostly has respected the policy of not interfering with the politics of Cambodia. Cambodia's decision to side with Shina comes as a surprise to many, given that Sihamoni personally saw firsthand the horrors of the Khmer Rouge.

These two nations have broken from neutrality and aligned with different alliances. In this initial tradeoff, some analysts consider Nippon to have "won" the engagement given Indonesia's economic might compared to Cambodia. But if Shina can align Laos as well to join her alliance, she will have a significant strategic position within Southeast Asia.

The Cold War is warming, and tensions have never been so fraught.

It will feel somewhat 'dry' on release because it's a paradox game that will mature over time but the base gameplay experience is already clearly the best game ever designed in this genre and it's not close.
The only reason it would fail would be if it performs absolutely terrible like 80% of computers just crash trying to boot it or play for a few mins or if the entire genre just dies over night. Like there's no way this game won't be the only game we want to play for the next 5 years.

July 8, 2024

War breaks out in eastern Africa. Egypt, Sudan, South Sudan, Tigray, Eritrea, Somalia have united against Ethiopia and her allies of Djibouti, Somaliland, and the East African Federation.

The war comes down to Ethiopia's dam project and its refusal to halt it, causing consternation among its regional neighbors for fear of further desertification.

EU5 will be better because it creates dynamic systems out of benign mana points, introduces population and better trade mechanics, and hopefully reduces the click to win railroaded missions which change the game into a visual novel.

Shina Invades Myanmar
August 16, 2024

Shina under the New Left has signaled that it has had enough with the Myanmar Civil War, which has lasted since 2020 and currently is in a stalemate. Shina has launched a ground invasion of all factions in the war and set up a vassal state titled the National Progressive Alliance of Myanmar Peoples, led by Peng Daxun. Presumably, Shina intends on this client state to capture Myanmar territory and occupy it, with Shina propping it up.

Laos joined the EADI a month prior. Now Shina invades Myanmar. Shina is quickly finding new allies, while Nippon has only thus far obtained Indonesia, along with Taiwan and Australia.

Yugoslavia Reborn
August 25, 2024

One by one, Serbia under the socialist Aleksander Vulin defeated the former states of the Yugoslavic union. First, Bosnia-Herzegovina fell. Then Croatia. Now Slovenia.

The Balkan countries had left NATO out of disillusion that the defensive alliance would keep them safe. It would seem this proved a mistake, because it simply left them vulnerable to Serbia's ambitions.

In another world, NATO would launch an offensive against Serbia and halt its formation of Yugoslavia. But NATO without America and without a nation to step up and lead is toothless.

It is expected that Yugoslavia will align with Russia, who has been quiet in the past few years, building its military might and conserving its strength.

India has come out on top in the Pakistani-Indian War, defeating Pakistani forces after months of intense warfare. Nippon sighs with relief at the news, especially that the subcontinent was not lit afire by nuclear arms.

India has established an Indus Valley Military Administration Zone, led by the Indian Armed Forces, that serves as a buffer zone between India and Pakistan.

Importantly, the new borders effectively cut off Pakistan from Shina. In a hypothetical future war in which Pakistan sides with Shina, it will be harder for Shina troops to reinforce Pakistan. Nippon military analysts are already drafting new hypothetical war plans to take this reality into consideration.

They/Them Goes to Tokio
November 8, 2024

They did not get much sleep on the plane ride over the Pacific. Honestly, they never have gotten sleep on planes. The hum and slight shake keeps them awake. But they had a mission, and they would carry out this mission to the best of their abilities.

They were used to the stares in America, even on the progressive West Coast there were stares. Even in San Francisco there were glances. People could not keep to themselves. But they did not mind. They had survived the military, but that was before... in a different life. Some were surprised to hear they won numerous medals during their military service. Why that surprised people, they never quite understood that.

Arriving at the Foreign Ministry office, they greeted Foreign Minister Hayashi in as respectable manner as they could muster. It seemed to suffice. They then went into it: The American People's Liberation Army had seized the Pacific Northwest, Idaho, Utah, Nevada, the Southwest. Now it was ready to invade Trump's American Constitutional Government. There was no secret about it. That was the plan. And the APLA wanted Japanese help.

F.M. Hayashi could not help but stare at the person in front of him. He noticed others stare as well. Nippon was a conservative society, and there just were not these types of people around, particularly not flaunting it or acting as emissaries. But, he kept his composure in front of them and respected their pronouns, as the dossier had forewarned. Alana McLaughlin, the Liberator of Silicon Valley; she had driven off a PMC in the Valley early in the Second American Civil War. General McLaughlin and their forces swiftly defeated them and seized San Jose. F.M. Hayashi thought that was commendable in a sense.

But Nippon could not assist the APLA, which received material and manpower from Shina. The APLA was firmly in Shina's pocket. So, F.M. Hayashi let them down firmly but politely., and ushered them out of his office.

What a strange day.

The Egyptian Water Crisis
June 26, 2025

Egypt tried to stop the Ethiopian dam with a coalition. It failed. Now, as Egypt predicted and the dam is completed, desertification has increased rapidly across Egypt. Water shortages are severe. People are dying left and right from thirst.

In this climate, Egypt the chaos and strife has resulted in a breakdown of society. Egypt faces civil war. Spared from the Arab Spring in 2012, and the coups committed by the military in 2013 was relatively bloodless, Egypt has not faced a major war since its wars against Israel.

Now that changes.

First, the Arab Republic of Egypt, led by Abdel al-Sisi. Sisi is not perfect, but he is the Western-backed, internationally recognized government of Egypt. He is better than the alternatives, at least for the West.

Second, the Muslim Brotherhood (MB), led by Mahmoud Hussein. The MB was elected into power in 2012 and led at that time by Mohamed Morsi. The military committed a coup against him as many feared Morsi and the MB had committed an Islamist coup of Egypt. Now the Brotherhood is back.

Third, Wilayah Sina, led by Mahmood el-Majeed. This faction is a Salafist faction that has been active in numerous terrorist attacks primarily in the Sinai region of Egypt since 2011. It is a branch of ISIS, and it carries with it the same ideology and principles.

August 28, 2025

France, one of the favored nations throughout the history of Nippon, has approached with a pact: an extensive trade deal that would see the economic growth of both the PDTO and the EU. As the PDTO grows in size, Europe finally is waking up to the benefits of lasting relations with Nippon and her allies.

This pact will increase the economic output of Nippon, which will further enhance capabilities to defend herself and the of the Alliance.

Brandenburg: the Heartland, the Beginning
January 1, 1836

To even begin to describe Prussia and her Majesty, to walk through her steps as she storms across Europe and seizes her rightful clay, one must begin at the capital: Brandenburg, where it all began.

Encompassing 40,000 square kilometers and centered on Berlin, Brandenburg was and is the heartland of Prussia. But it is a dreary place; located on a plain, the countryside attracts few visitors, possess no distinct landmarks, and the rivers are barely more than streams--let alone having some awe of the grandeur of the Rhine or Danube.

In 1598, it was described as a "flat land, wooded and for the most part swamp," "sand," "bogs," and "uncultivated areas." The soil was lacking, nothing like the sheer richness of the soil in the Red River Valley of North Dakota, where some Germans would later flock. The ground was sandy and light, and no trees would grow on it. While Italy has been described as a "geographical expression," Brandenburg was a sore excuse of a piece of land. No defensible natural borders. Landlocked.

It existed purely as a political entity after Christian forces seized land from pagan Slavs and were settled by immigrants. We do not speak of the Slavic history of Brandenburg.

Brandenburg also did not produce any specialized crop-based manufacturing product, such as wine, madder, flax, fustian, wool, and silk, and it lacked key mineral resources--silver, copper, iron, zinc, and tin. There was a single ironworks in Peitz. Agricultural yields were low. In some places, the soil was such that it could only be sown every 6, 9, or 12 years, if it could even be sown at all.

Brandenburg was a godforsaken land of little character or strategic merit. What it did have, however, were the Hohenzollerns, whose ambitions would take this stretch of blasted land and make it the heart of the greatest Empire, stretched from the Baltic to the Atlantic to the Mediterranean.

if you can get to 0 neutrality or raise your own threat above your neutrality then you can declare war on anyone freely
all american nations are guaranteed by the usa so unless you join the same faction as the us you will be fighting them should you attack anyone but europe is fair game
you will never beat the french, british, italian, or american navies early so don't even try you need to invade portugal and use them as a staging area
from there you can take spain which should provide you with a solid industrial base

The Initial Disappointment at Vienna
January 1, 1836

The Vienna Peace Congress of 1814-15 spelled the end of the Napoleonic Era. New nations were formed, large swathes of land changed hands, and Russian territories moved west closer than ever before.

For Prussia, large portions of Polish territory seized in the 1790s were transferred to Russia. East Frisia was given to Hanover. In exchange, Prussia received land it did not want: a sliver of Saxony, not all of it, the Swedish rump of Pomerania, and the Rhenish/Westphalian lands.

Further, Prussia wanted a Germany with strong central executive organs such that Prussia (and Austria) could share power over the lesser states. The Austrians, however, wanted a loose confederation of independent states with few central institutions. The 1815 German Confederal Treaty showed Europe that Austrian policymakers won.

But not all was lost. The Rhenish lands would turn out to be an immeasurable boon to the Prussian state. Prussia also reinforced its territorial position within German Europe, holding more "German" territory than Austria.

The German Customs Union came into effect on January 1, 1834, maneuvered into place by Prussia. Nearly 90% of the German population lived in the member states of the Union. The Union had the potential to increase Prussian influence over all of Germany. While that has not yet materialized, it still stands as a demonstration of what Prussia can achieve throughout all of Germany.

By 1836, Prussia had set any disappointments it had with the Vienna Peace Congress. It now looked at further expansion.

Rodina Above All
January 3, 2020

Russia. Motherland. Rodina. One simple word cannot explain the full weight of emotion it carries in the heart of every Russian. In foolish some societies, parents place more importance on the child than the parent who protects the child. Without the parent, the child dies. So, too, is Rodina: without her, without the Government, every Russian dies. And so the importance must always be placed on Rodina, not the citizen.

Mikhail Gorbachev, the Great Traitor, or Mecheny as some call him, the Marked One. In the span of a few years, Gorbachev ruined it all and crippled Rodina. He thought too much of the citizen; he wanted to make the world a better place; he wanted Western effeminate products; he wanted too much. Worse than a fool, he was a Western agent that led to the direct collapse of the Soviet Union through his policies of "reform."

One agency remembered Rodina, remembered the Government. The FSB, formally the KGB. In 1991, the KGB head Vladimir Kryuchkov attempted to stop the reform nonsense, he failed. Gorbachev's minions then destroyed the KGB. But President Boris Yeltsin brought it back under the guise of the Federal Service Service, the FSB.

Vladimir Putin, the man who has restored Russia's place in the world, took over the FSB in 1998. Yeltsin saw something in Putin. Maybe he saw the desire to restore Rodina to her past glory. Regardless, when Yeltsin made Putin acting-President, Putin further showed the world he was Rodina's man.

The apartment bombings, a twist few could stomach, but Putin knew Rodina needed it. The destruction of Grozny, Rodina needed it.

The oligarchs, dragging them out one by one and forcing them to submit. It started with arresting Mikhail Khodorkovsky, the head of the Yukos oil company, in 2003. The richest man in Russia, rich from the theft of Rodina, he had to be made an example. And the oligarchs, who had stolen so much from Rodina, fell in line.

Rodina will be restored.

Russia's Hardship
January 3, 2020

Rodina faces many difficulties in the coming years.

First, the Western sanctions. The globalists, the West, wants to see Rodina split in pieces. One man. One Russian citizen that belonged to Rodina Sergei Magnitsky stuck his nose where it did not belong and made accusations, despite colluding with fraudsters and being directly responsible for the loss of hundreds of millions of dollars of money that belonged to Rodina. He died in jail. So what? One man's death is responsible for the West sanctioning Rodina? Facially ridiculous. The West used Magnitsky's unfortunate demise as a pretext to attack Russia and level sanctions against key members of the Government.

Georgia, Ukraine, those were also pretextual reasons to sanction Russia. Georgia and Ukraine are within Rodina's Sphere of Influence. Russia does not sanction America for intruding on Mexican soil to seize cartel members. Ridiculous.

Regardless, the sanctions must be dealt with in some manner.

Second, the so-called "kleptocratic state." Some people steal, and those people are found and punished. Russia does not have any worse of a problem with kleptocracy than America with its gangsters, drug dealers, and mafiosos. But again, if there is fraud, bribery, theft occurring against Rodina, President Putin will have it flushed out and eliminated.

Third, this tender authoritarianism. A non-issue. Back in the day of the Soviet Union, leaders, good leaders, led for decades. President Putin is a strong leader. This American, Western term is nonsense.

Fourth, the petrol-economy. "Rodina is nothing more than a gas station," some say and laugh. This is a problem. Diversification is needed. If the West manipulates oil prices as they do, Russia's economy can plummet. For security reasons, Rodina needs to build up its industry once more. The Soviet Union had some of the largest and most complex factories in the world, and that needs to return.

These are only some issues. More await.

The Chaos Doctrine: Rodina’s Shadow Wars
January 3, 2020

The plan is simple. The globalist West is the enemy, and they will always be the enemy. The foreign policies of Russia must strike at the globalists as hard as possible, without tipping the scales over into war.

There are three conflicts in which Rodina sends her soldiers to fight.

First, the Libyan Civil War. On the surface, there is not much difference between the Tobruk and Libyan Governments that fight each other. The Tobruk Government, however, has made a key decision: amnesty to Saif Gaddafi, the son of Muammar Gaddafi. Saif is a wannabe politician. He thinks he can be a big man some day. That's good for Russia. The FSB has already made contact with him and promised him indirect support for his future goals.

Saif wants to liberate North Africa; in so doing, he would burn cities from Tunisia to Morocco, creating refugees. Refugees mean liberal globalist compassion, which means internal strife among the globalists. This also means pro-Russian politicians get elected. The Government will give the West the worst refugee crisis it has ever seen, if Tobruk wins, and if Saif is elected.

Second, the Yemen Civil War. The Iranian allies, the Houthis, need Russian support. An ally of Iran is an ally of Russia. Iran hates the globalists almost as much as Rodina. And they are weak--will always play second fiddle to Russia, even better.

Third, the Somalian War. This one might give pause, but the Salafists hate the globalists more than we do. They think their God hates the West. Even if Somalia is sympathetic to Russia, and a Salafist government would provide no direct support, an extremist Islamic win will only doom the West in the region. The trick is not to let Russian direct support for Islamic extremists elsewhere bleed into indirect support for Islamic extremists on the homefront. They are dangerous people, but the FSB believes they can be Rodina's dangerous people.

Eduard Limonov has died. Known by some as being the father of modern Russian ethnonationalism, he along with Aleksander Dugin created the National-Bolshevik Party in the 1990s. In 2006, President Putin had the party banned, and it re-emerged as The Other Russia party in 2010.

Limonov was cut from a different cloth than most Russian citizens. After all, Russia defeated the Nazis! Why would a Russian want to be a Nazi? But, ethnonationalism has its uses.

On the Ukrainian Independence Day in August 1999, Limonov, along with several other supporters, essentially seized Sevastopol city's clocktower and publicly called to review the status of the city and demanded that Russia not ratify the Treaty about Friendship and Cooperation between Russia and Ukraine. He was an early voice of opposition against the evils of Ukraine.

He will be missed.

Sergei Furgal, a popular LDPR politician, has been arrested for committing double-murder fifteen years ago.

The saga began when Navalny, that globalist traitor, helped Sergei Furgal of the LDPR Party beat the longstanding candidate for President Putin's United Russia party in the 2018 Khabarovsk Krai gubernatorial election. Since the election, Furgal has received high acclaim and was, until his arrest, polling favorably--much better than President Putin's candidate.

Suddenly, to the shock of the community, detectives announced the double-murder charges, and Furgal was arrested. Conspiracy theorists claim that the double-murder is untrue and that this is a political attack on Furgal for besting President Putin's candidate. It makes no sense--you cannot fake a double-murder; someone was murdered, and if the police say it was Furgal, then the evidence must tie the murders to Furgal.

It is expected that a United Russia candidate will take Furgal's place in the snap elections that have been called.

The Grand Alliance
November 27, 2025

Stretching from Hyderabad to Auckland to Tokio and with almost every nation in between, the Pacific Defense Treaty Organization has grown immensely in size in the past three years since the Taiwan War.

Her free trade agreement with Europe means that cheap Asian products are produced in Vietnam, Indonesia, and India, with sophisticated electronics produced in Taiwan, Australia, and Nippon, and shipped across the world to Europe in exchange for industrial equipment, pharmaceutical products, motor vehicles, chemical products, and computer and electronic equipment.

Nippon's naval fleets protect the PDTO from encroachment by either Houthis in Yemen or future Shina intrusion. Nippon's armies are growing, and currently four armored divisions are being trained at once. Nippon has two fully strength armies that can advance along an offensive front, one defensive army, and an intervention army. This does not include the divisions that the rest of the alliance bring to the table.

Nippon ammunition and arms, from artillery to heavy machine guns to other small arms, are a staple in Asia and the Pacific. They have become the standard by which other weapons are compared.

The leader of the free world has accepted her mantle with grace, and flourished with success.

In recent years, Russia has united with Belarus in a formal union, and consolidated Central Asia under its rule.

Formosa Returns to the Fold: Nippon Gains a Province Without Firing a Shot
January 14, 2026

In a stunning move that left Beijing reeling and Tokio and cities across Nippon cheering, Taiwan, or Formosa, has agreed to closer ties than a mere military-economic-trade-diplomatic alliance. They have agreed to become a vassal state of Nippon.

Some politicians in the LDP assured the rest of the PDTO allies that this was not a plan in the works and that it just happened as a natural occurrence. Vietnam and the Philippines, both of whom were occupied by Nippon in the tragic war of 1941, have reason to feel a bit wary of Nippon essentially annexing a fellow PDTO member. But they have no reason to worry. The ties between Taiwan and Nippon go much further than any the tie of any other nation except for perhaps Korea.

Nippon immediately moved to nationalize the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) for security purposes, along with several other defense companies, lest they decided to leave Taiwan for other pastures.

Shina has lodged several complaints over the vassalization of Taiwan, but all they can do is shout into the void. At this stage in the cold war, Nippon barely registers Shina's frequent rants of the evils of capitalism, the West, globalism, and so forth.

Meanwhile, on 2ch, one schizoid poster spent an entire thread theorizing that this was all a "VISUAL NOVEL," in caps lock, too.

Today is a good day in Nippon and Taiwan and the rest of the free world. Taiwan now is in a better position to support Nippon in her inevitable fight against Shina.

The First Salvo: A War for the Future of Europe
June 21, 2026

Russia invades Ukraine. The Doomsday clock hits thirty-minutes-to-midnight. This is not ordinary skirmish like in 2014. This is a full blown assault on Europe, starting with Ukraine. No silly, outlandish attempts with little green men, but full battle-hardened Russian troops storming across the border in IFVs supported by heavy artillery fighter and air superiority.

Russia controls the skies. In the first opening salvo, they targeted Ukrainian air fields and struck down numerous Ukrainian fighter jets. Had the Americans still been in the game, they might have had satellite coverage, airborne early warning and control (AEW&C), any number of measures to warn Ukraine of where and when the Russians would strike. But that's neither here nor there. The Americans are gone, and Europe is unable to pick up the slack.

The primary axis of attack in the fog of war appear to be as follows: Russian troops are pouring out of Donetsk, Crimea, Gomel, Belgorod, and even as far west as Brest. With Belarus under their control, they can and are attacking through Belarus, with Belarus soldiers.

Ukraine cannot hold. In the early hours of the war, the Nippon high command made the decision to send three armored divisions to try to hold the Ukraine line against Russia. Unlikely to succeed, but if this war expands and NATO joins... the entire Nippon army is ready to fight. Trade with Europe is too crucial to the present and future of the PDTO. Nippon cannot allow NATO to fall, half of the free world to expire in the blink of a crisis.

But that has not happened yet. For now, the war remains limited to Ukraine. Hopefully it will stay that way.

Russia Deploys Gas Attacks in Eastern Europe
July 24, 2026
Time: 7:00 JST

Russia has launched numerous gas attacks all over Eastern Europe, hitting population centers, military bases, front lines, everywhere. They seem to be indiscriminately firing gas cannisters everywhere their forces are not located.

Early evidence of the following gas attacks have been found to have been used: mustard gas (used by Iraq in the Iraq-Iran War); chlorine gas (used by Syria recently); tabun (used by Iraq in the 1980s); and of course sarin (used by Syria recently).

Russia seems to be offloading its entire stockpile on the people of Eastern Europe.

When asked about these attacks, Foreign Affairs Minister Sergey Lavrov was quoting as saying, "No, of course we did not do this. But even if we did, who's to stop us?"

The Front Stabilizing
September 1, 2026
Time: 19:00 JST

When the Nippon interventionist forces first began arriving throughout Europe, the front was hectic. Russia had air superiority. They were launching missile strikes on logistic hubs and damaging main railways and highways. Ukraine was on her last legs. Estonia's capital was threatened. Lithuania's capital was already seized.

But now the situation is improving, slightly.

A fierce air war is ongoing above the skies of Ukraine. 1,800 Nippon jet fighters appeared in airbases across Eastern Europe and have centralized their operations on the air region of Right-Bank Ukraine. Joined with European fighter jets, 2,868 European an Nippon fighter jets face off against 1,699 Russian fighter jets.

Moldavia surrendered before Nippon could stabilize the front, but its territory is slowly being retaken, as is Ukraine's territory. Kyiv fell, but Ukraine hopes to retake it. Ukrainian operation are based currently out of Lviv. If this western Ukrainian city fell, Ukraine likely would surrender, and that would mean the loss of several fighting divisions. Thankfully, for now, Lviv appears safe.

The Konigsberg/Kaliningrad front is frustrating--Nippon has two armored divisions stationed there and is attempting to seize the city, but the Russian forces are steadfastly holding the city.

Russia is highly prepared for this war, and Europe is not. Russian troops are in far better fighting capacity than her European counterparts. (Russia has a +50% to attack/defend modifier). This makes the war more difficult than usual.

But thanks to Nippon and her armies, the front no longer looks dire. The situation can be maintained.

Edge of Tomorrow
October 24, 2026

In military advancement news, the Nippon Army goes science fiction as it adopts the largescale use of exoskeletons, after having spent years on research and development of the augments.

Military production has shifted to prioritize this new futuristic equipment, as the Army anticipates that all of its infantry and special forces will eventually be equipped with it.

Military exoskeletons are wearable robotic systems designed to enhance a soldier's strength, mobility, and endurance. They assist in carrying heavy loads, navigating difficult terrain, and reducing physical strain during long missions.

Imagine a world where a land troop convoy gets ambushed in an urban city environment, with gunfire coming from the rooftops around them. The ambushed soldiers disembark from their vehicles and engage by jumping to the top of the roof and gunning down their ambushers.

An exoskeleton equipped with a katana could also bring a deadly combination of machine and ancient traditional swordplay, with the soldier water-dancing throughout the battlefield, never tiring because of his suit, protected from small arms fire. Perhaps one day this type of suit might also hold stealth camouflage, a radar dampening field, a heads-up display of course, and even an arm-mounted cannon should metal gears become a concern.

Analysts agree that the future is now, and they look forward to what the exoskeletons will bring to the table in the fight for the free world.

Thanks to Nippon's efforts, the Russians are slowly being pushed back. Kyiv has been retaken. Vilnius retaken. Kaliningrad, taken. Minsk is within sight. A number of Russian offenses into the Baltic turned into slaughter as they were cut off, encircled, and destroyed.

The skies now are free mostly of Russian planes. Approximately 600 remain. This has simplified Nippon's CAS efforts, and now Russian positions are finding themselves bombed by aerial missions.

The war is not over yet, however, and there is still a long way to go before Russia calls it quit.

The Dual Alliance Defeats Russia
December 22, 2026

The NATO-PDTO league has driven off the Russian forces, and a peace treaty has been signed. Russia loses territory in the peace, including Belarus, some provinces on the Ukrainian border including Crimea and the Donbas of course, and, significantly, her Caucasus territories. Russia also has agreed to pay a hefty indemnity for the damage she caused during the war.

The war could not have been won without Nippon's immense support, which the various European leaders have acknowledged. President Zelensky of Ukraine sent a personal "thank you" for Nippon's efforts in saving Ukraine.

Trade between Europe and the PDTO has never been stronger, and as the years advance, ties will only deepen. This was the first step in restoring the free world order that had collapsed with the fall of America.

Now, Nippon can rest, at least for a moment, and rebuild its lost fighter jets and heavy equipment. Another war is brewing, and this one likely will be much more significant and deadly.

President Putin went into isolation following the outbreak, and rumors suggest he remains in isolation, though that cannot be confirmed. Some close to President Putin have said that he shares in the caution against Sputnik V, despite his public remarks about the success of the vaccine. He apparently is waiting a period of at least six months before he decides to take the vaccine. This precaution is only prudent, for if there are issues with the vaccine, it would be best if a dockworker, schoolteacher, or any other non-essential servant of Rodina experienced the issue and warned others of it. The President cannot risk his life after all.

As Sputnik V begins its rollout, many of the public remain skeptical of its efficacy. Russia's low vaccination rate is on par with much poorer countries, and only about 36% of Russians are lining up to take the vaccine, with many of that small number even voicing concern about taking the vaccine. Many Russian liberals have said they will not take the vaccine because it is sponsored by the Kremlin. And it would be most unpleasant if they were to die of COVID-19 because of their obstinance.

Anyway, how did Russia beat the globalists in development of a vaccine? The answer is simple, through grit and determination. The scientists who worked on the project began injecting themselves with their prototype, to beneficial results. Self-sacrifice! An unheard of concept in the West. And, of course, the Kremlin cut back on the trial periods, so fewer test subjects ultimately were used. This helped speed up the process; thanks to the Government, more lives will be saved.

Sputnik V is not approved for use in Canada, China, the European Union, Japan, South Korea, South Africa, or the United States.

Zhirinovsky’s Dance: Rage, Rhetoric, and Roleplay
August 4, 2020

The popular Governor Sergei Furgal's arrest for double-murder has surprisingly caused a substantial amount of unrest. Many say he is innocent, that this is unfair, that the Government is persecuting him for beating its candidate, and so forth. The amount of conspiracy theories widely accepted by the public is a concern. A recent survey indicated that over one-third of Russians believe in conspiracy theories, with a higher percentage among older individuals and frequent television viewers. But, no program on the television appears without Government approval. The acceptance of conspiracy theories remains a mystery.

Vladimir Zhirinovsky recently condemned the Government and led a protest in support for Furgal. Zhirinovsky, so say the globalists, serves as President Putin's "safety valve for public discontent, corralling protest votes but then supporting [President Putin] at key junctures." This nonsense holds no bearing. Zhirinovsky is an opposition politician who leads the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia, and there is nothing more to it than that.

During the protest, Zhirinovsky is reported to have complained about the Kremlin treating his party "like idiots." He told a crowd, that they are expected to "go out on the field and play, but [not to] score any goals." If they do "score goals," the implication is that they are arrested or murdered, which again is a ridiculous assertion from a man known to make outlandish remarks.

Zhirinovsky once said, "All men lie to you. When they tell you that they love you, it’s a lie. All men hate you, ladies, they hate you. Because you prevent men from thriving. This is why all the crimes committed in the world are women’s fault." Now he champions for a two-time murderer, because he claims the man is innocent and blames the Government.

The fact is there is no conspiracy, there is only a murderer being supported by his colleagues because of politics.

CIA Attempts Another Color Revolution
August 10, 2020

Rodina's man in Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, has come under fire from liberal globalist protestors for his winning the most recent presidential election. President Putin rightfully has offered full support to Lukashenko should he need it.

Color revolutions have been occurring around Russia for the past two decades.

In 2003, in Georgia, the "Rose Revolution" ousted the Soviet-era leadership and installed Mikheil Saakashvili, that globalist stooge. This ultimately forced President Putin's hand, and South Ossetia and Abkhazia were liberated.

In 2005, in Kyrgyzstan, the "Tulip Revolution" overthrew the Russian-backed president. USAID, among other U.S. agencies, provided assistance to the opposition.

In 2009, in Moldova, after the pro-Russian candidate won the parliamentary elections, the country through a fit and demanded another election, at which time the globalist candidate won.

Famously, in 2012 and 2013, the Arab Spring and Euromaidan, respectively, toppled the pro-Russian governments of several nations, including Ukraine.

In 2016, North Macedonia, the pro-Russian party was ousted in a "Colorful Revolution."

And so on, and so forth.

It has been clear for some time that these revolutions are backed and supported, and directed by the CIA and other U.S. agencies. These were good governments that were ousted by the "people." These governments did not commit mass murders like Khmer Rouge. They were fine. Yet the "people" decided to revolt, all in a synchronized, domino effect, type manner. No, it was a plot. Just like this unrest in Belarus.

The globalists have been trying to prevent the union of Russia and Belarus for years. The time is almost at hand for it to occur, and suddenly there is a revolutionary attempt made. It is too suspicious, too obvious. It is the working of the globalists.

The Sahel Shifts
August 21, 2020

Elements of the Malian Armed Forces have begun a mutiny, and subsequently are undertaking a coup d'Γ©tat of the French-backed Malian government. This can only mean a positive for Russia.

For decades, Russia has made inroads with numerous nations by asserting itself as anti-imperialist, liberating the subjugated nations of Africa and elsewhere still under Western control. One by one the nations have been swayed over to Russian influence. They have seen the light of globalist propaganda.

Now, Mali joins the chorus of nations who reject globalism, liberalism, democratism.. all Western tools used for subjugation.

The useful PMC Wagner, funded by Prigozhin, now is permitted to operate in the region. If the seeds are planted correctly, this could turn into a highly fruitful situation.

Navalny Hospitalized
September 6, 2020

Once again, the West blames Russia for something that cannot be proved. Navalny has been hospitalized for "suspected poisoning." Some claim President Putin ordered this. But where is the evidence? Anyone could have poisoned Navalny, if that indeed is what happened.

To assert a claim, evidence is needed. Without evidence, the assertion should be retracted. That is proper discourse. The globalists, however, do not believe in proper discourse. They believe in accusations without proof, claims without facts.

And if Navalny was poisoned by the Government, then what of it? An globalist agent injured and resting for a few days should not make anyone lose sleep over it. There are more important things in the world, such as ending child hunger created by Nestle and other Western companies.

Choosing the Crescent or the Crown
September 11, 2020

Saudi Arabia, the de facto head of OPEC, has dissolved into a four-way civil war. Oil prices have surged, which means profit for Rodina for now. But the real question is what faction does Russia support in the civil war.

Two choices have been presented by the FSB. First, supporting the Saudi King bin Salman and internationally-recognized government could be beneficial if they are willing to resolve their differences with Iran. If they are unwilling to resolve their differences, then the second choice is backing Hezbollah, Iran's ally in the region.

Overtures have been sent to the Saudi King, and Russia awaits his decision.

In other news, the Tigray Defense Force has revolted from Ethiopia. The Government is sending an armored division as an intervention force to support the TDF. Ethiopia is backed by the West, so any thorn in its side helps Russia.

Divide et Impera: The Strategic Utility of Horror
October 12, 2020

Islamist extremists carry out terrorist attacks in France and Austria. Europe reacts with horror and dismay. While it is a tragedy, the silver lining is that every Islamic terrorist attack in the West drives a further wedge amongst themselves as the various political parties argue over how to react. So, yes, it is terrible, but it also is good, and some, (especially in the FSB) are glad it happened.

Russia may have indirectly caused or exacerbated the attacks through its direct support of the Islamist extremists al-Shabaab earlier in the year. With al-Shabaab's victory over Somalia, it is possible that Islamic extremists are becoming emboldened, possibly contributing to this mass attack on France and Austria. That, however, is speculative.

Pilgrims of Fire

Jihadist extremists have seized Mecca and become the latest faction to join the Saudi civil war. This faction is Jaysh Alfath, led by Atu Abu Rashta.

The Saudi King bin Salman previously agreed to Russia's proposal of resolving the Saudi-Iran Schism in exchange for Russian military support. Now, however, a new opportunity presents itself.

The FSB has presented a third choice: support militarily the Jihadist extremists who have seized Mecca. If they were to win the war, oil production in Saudi Arabia would be permanently shattered. Oil prices would remain high, benefitting Russia. Furthermore, one extremist Saudi took down the Twin Towers. What hell could a nation of Saudi extremists bring to the West? The idea is too tempting to pass up.

The military intervention to the Saudi King will be withdrawn, and Russia will aid this Jaysh Alfath in its holy crusade for control of the Saudi realm.
