This. There are thousands of moons, dwarf planets, centaurs, asteroids, etc. in the solar system alone. Any one of them could be inhabited by a self-sufficient colony. (Which would be necessary if they're real far out) Remina's approach into the system would completely fuck up the orbits of everything so the chance of something ending up passing by their shelter is at least nonzero in the next year.
