Panel liners are for shading. They function like oil washes out of the bottle. You load your brush and touch it to the recess and it crawls along the recess without you having to drag your brush. Then you can go in with a q tip and clear off any spillover form the tiny spot you touched. It'll help you hit the pink areas in pic related, and make them as dark as your actual panel lines. Theyre very popular in gundam and scale modeling. Tamiya makes a really good one, don't drink it.
