Destinyfags have alright taste.

Played a small 1k point game with Wrath of the Rock.
The detachment is pretty bad. The rule is good but other than ancient weapons, leonine aggression and tactical mastery there just aren't very good rules there.
Judiciar with ancient + 6 ICC was by far the standout unit. Extremely punchy unit and deceptively tanky due to -1 to hit and -1 to be wounded most of the time, good reach due to advance and charge.
I brought a predator annihilator. I still think this is a fucking casino tank, 3 lascannon shots means it needs oaths to be reliable or it has a 1 in 10 chance to straight up not do anything, and even with oaths it's not weird to miss one or two shots then miss a wounding roll or have them save it. Then there's the D6 damage. This thing might pop a Rogal Dorn in one turn or it might not do anything at all.
Sternguard vets are pretty good when shooting at infantry, and actually the +2S to ranged weapons strat can be good here and there, but they're still not a build around unit I'm afraid.

All in all same issue as 90% of SM detachments, there's nothing here that it does better than Gladius Task Force so why really bother.

Instead of painting I played a game, got absolutely fucking annihilated and moped playing vidya and listening to an audiobook all afternoon.

Nid player was running the vanguard organism detachment. ran 3 neurolictors into my lines on bottom of turn 1. At the start of my turn 2 he shadow in the warped me, most of my units took their battleshock test on 9’s because of the neurolictor aura. Exactly one unit passed their test. Literally nothing in my army could guide on turn 2, most of my shooting was also at -1 because battleshocked and near a neurolictor. As a result most of my remaining shooting completely flopped, my entire army got raped bottom of turn 2 by advance and charge Genestealers W/ broodlord. Couldn’t respond in anyway because everything was battleshocked. Couldn’t have killed the neurolictors befor it happens because advance and charge/ lone pop/ 4+ invuln/ stealth. So every pregames me fixing up whatever fuck ups I told them to fix up last fortnight and they haven’t .
The thing that causes me the most inane rage?
Their second game: alright I increased my army size and bought a character with enhancement. - you can’t, it’s in the core crusade rules that I sent you a summary of after you didn’t read the book.
I made a pregame postgame document won an a4 page for my benefit to play games smoothly. Upload it in our crusade discord. No one even looks at it they keep fucking up the same mistakes every game and not knowing how the fuck to play pregame postgame.

I've found that if a group of people believes that there is one player who will pick up after them and hold their hands to much, that the whole group will become very dependant on that person. I've found in the past that it helps giving everyone a "job", and they are the designated person for those rules and its their job to remind people when it's relevant. Instead of running it all yourself I'd suggest assigning a team captain for each group, and that person can keep their team in check. It also helps balance out how many lectures one individual has to give, and will prevent you from being overloaded as well as keep others from feeling like one person is "picking on them". Panel liners are for shading. They function like oil washes out of the bottle. You load your brush and touch it to the recess and it crawls along the recess without you having to drag your brush. Then you can go in with a q tip and clear off any spillover form the tiny spot you touched. It'll help you hit the pink areas in pic related, and make them as dark as your actual panel lines. Take it from me man don't bother with using contrast paint in that manner, not the tool for the job. If you have to add a wash to get contrast from your contrast paint, you're burning time and money.

Base with a dark reddish brown then build up to the red midtone with layering, then maybe try orange highlights.You can still use your thinned contrast paint to drag the colors closer together, focus on achieving stark contrast first even if it looks off.

Every paint gets more transparent with the addition of medium. That's what medium is for. Base paints require multiple coats, whereas baal red is flat and strong with one coat. They even out in time spent between dry times and time spent applying additional coats. Also Vince claimed it was single pigment when they dropped and compared it to a thinned kimera red which is also single pigment. Also both traditional paints and contrast paints can get you to the same point with slightly different applications when it comes to basecoats. Shooty daemon battle line die in the first round of melee normally but get to shoot every turn in spite of being tied in melee. They're durable to 5man units that can't wipe them in single combat.

They lack the ability to be in their realm of chaos to regain models on top of their 4+ returning weaker models each set of casualties.

It gives them something to shoot masses of weak guns at to be honest. Making lasguns wound on 5+ with a stealth granting greater daemon on foot means everything to 7 point models with a 4++.

The unique use of battle line tzeentch daemons is that planting two units of them on an objective and returning models in the way of their consolodations can keep them off the circle. So planting two units of them on their objective or a really constested one and making it a multiple combat with at least two of your units in the way lets you return more models before they get wiped.

The pistol shooting doesn't care if you're in melee range. So blob combat fits them. To be a dick, line three units of them really close so they have no choice but to charge all three units if they want any good number of attacks to mean anything. That's how to abuse horrors.

I think you have to be the nogames to believe Oaths of Moment is some sort of super strong rule. It's good to focus-fire one thing, which you can probably already focus-fire without needing them, and that's your whole army rule. Compare that shit to stuff like DG hijinks, Eldar movement, TSons buffs. It's an alright rule but it's definitely not in the upper half of army rules.

Are a limited resource that you can run out of. You need to spend all your tokens at the start of the phase before you roll any dice (which everyone always forgets), and if you roll bad for a turn you also don't generate any replacement pain tokens and you're now fucked for future turns.

I don't think so, once you're in base to base contact you're forbidden from making pile in moves entirely. The writing is tortuous but what this means (I think) is that as long as you end closer to any model in the enemy unit you can move however you please instead of needing to always move towards the closest model.
This is going to need a day 1 FAQ however because does this override the obligation to base if possible? Because if it doesn't then it's pretty useless. Though I assume at least one detachment will have the obligatory 6'' pile-in and consolidation strat.

It's why xenos players like the bit of the harlequins killing the custodes or tau hammerheads cracking open imperial knights, because those are the few noteworthy victories they get amongst a sea of absolute losses so it actually stands the fuck out. I had some pathfinders and Vespid screening, but they just ran around or charged them. The 12” aura was long enough to tag most of my stuff that was behind my screeners. My plan was to let him hit the screen and then hose them off on turn 2 so I could hose them off of my guys the following turn and fall back the survivors to do actions. The 12” leadership debut aura was enough to tag my spotters and the one stealth team further back still failed their battleshock.

I had plenty to shoot with, I just couldn’t hit anything with it or overwatch. It’s hard to screen a ~20 inch threat range across the entire board. The only suits I ran were a ghostkeel, some fireknives and its Farsight and a Coldstar, and some stealths. Rest of the list was some broadsides, breachers in fish, and a hammer head/ skyray, kroot and pathfinder squads.

Then when they realize all that white is webbing, and the red 'uniform' is blood wet webing, seeing the wounds they died from... It's too late and they're lept upon.

I wanted to do different poses, especially for each of the three units but theres two issues. The legs are frail, and pinning all that extra plastic off their abdomen is too much.

So in some testing, especially trying to make the normal small gaunt models to become toughness 4 - 2 wound models they all had to look the same size.
