Played a small 1k point game with Wrath of the Rock.
The detachment is pretty bad. The rule is good but other than ancient weapons, leonine aggression and tactical mastery there just aren't very good rules there.
Judiciar with ancient + 6 ICC was by far the standout unit. Extremely punchy unit and deceptively tanky due to -1 to hit and -1 to be wounded most of the time, good reach due to advance and charge.
I brought a predator annihilator. I still think this is a fucking casino tank, 3 lascannon shots means it needs oaths to be reliable or it has a 1 in 10 chance to straight up not do anything, and even with oaths it's not weird to miss one or two shots then miss a wounding roll or have them save it. Then there's the D6 damage. This thing might pop a Rogal Dorn in one turn or it might not do anything at all.
Sternguard vets are pretty good when shooting at infantry, and actually the +2S to ranged weapons strat can be good here and there, but they're still not a build around unit I'm afraid.
All in all same issue as 90% of SM detachments, there's nothing here that it does better than Gladius Task Force so why really bother.

Plus, with the exception of the new kill team, GW hasn't even touched cult mechanicus. Like, at all. Despite that being arguably more iconic for the faction. The basic of this is; you can be unfiltered while wording things properly.
You don't have to spam slurs. Racism belongs in /b/, and moderators/janitors seems to forget this. It is viable for a warning and potential temp ban.
Slogans are avatars.

I need to vent, I know personal blog bla blaโฆ
Iโve been feeling fairly burnt out on 40k secondary shit , so ended up joining a pals

So every pregames me fixing up whatever fuck ups I told them to fix up last fortnight and they havenโt .
The thing that causes me the most inane rage?
Their second game: alright I increased my army size and bought a character with enhancement. - you canโt, itโs in the core crusade rules that I sent you a summary of after you didnโt read the book.
I made a pregame postgame document won an a4 page for my benefit to play games smoothly. Upload it in our crusade discord. No one even looks at it they keep fucking up the same mistakes every game and not knowing how the fuck to play pregame postgame.
: these are the alliances:
Good guys
Marines
Deathwatch
Sisters
Bad guys
World eaters
Chaos knights
Tau(late joiner)
Xenos
Nids(me)
Necrons
Orks
And like we all cleared with each other prior to starting we do 2 games per โphaseโ everyone claimed to understand this, once against each of the other factions. This means each alliance plays 6 games per phase right.
Chaos starts challenging each other to infighting immediately, orks try to challenge imperium twice
Space marine plays 3 games.
I sincerely doubt we will even get past stage 1 at this stage I have reached my breakpoint.
Hereโs a bit of terrain I did yesterday. Needs a little cleanup and some posters
>>96143873Social rules are dependent on their context, and the social culture of this website for over a decade is that banter, insults and harsh truths are welcome. >>96143941I've found that if a group of people believes that there is one player who will pick up after them and hold their hands to much, that the whole group will become very dependant on that person. I've found in the past that it helps giving everyone a "job", and they are the designated person for those rules and its their job to remind people when it's relevant. Instead of running it all yourself I'd suggest assigning a team captain for each group, and that person can keep their team in check. It also helps balance out how many lectures one individual has to give, and will prevent you from being overloaded as well as keep others from feeling like one person is "picking on them". Terrain looks nice so far, and your thin hairless wrists are qt
>>96143991Banter IS fun.
People being reddit faux nice is obnoxious. There is a middle ground between that and /pol/ schizoposting, but that middle ground does not involve telling people "no edgy jokes allowed PG13 only". >>96144121anon sadly in some misbegotten corners of the world there are very few tabletop lovers. If I was in a suburban area fuck yes pick and choose. But instead we get whatever misfits I can dredge up.

>>96144136Panel liners are for shading. They function like oil washes out of the bottle. You load your brush and touch it to the recess and it crawls along the recess without you having to drag your brush. Then you can go in with a q tip and clear off any spillover form the tiny spot you touched. It'll help you hit the pink areas in pic related, and make them as dark as your actual panel lines. Theyre very popular in gundam and scale modeling. Tamiya makes a really good one, don't drink it.

Base with a dark reddish brown then build up to the red midtone with layering, then maybe try orange highlights. You can still use your thinned contrast paint to drag the colors closer together, focus on achieving stark contrast first even if it looks off.
>>96144369I got new paint brushes yesterday after my GW ones shit the bed. Artis Opus S sizes 00, 2, and a drybrush. Plus some microset/sol which are apparently good for decals and I'll need to learn to use decals properly on the black templar I'm starting soon.
why do people not understand 30k admech is a completely different army from 40k?
>>96144373Brush the dust off him and give him a nuln bath with a soft brush, making sure to wipe away any pooling (too much wash gathering in one place).
If he doesn't look 10 times better I'll eat my hat. Besides which if you want bright, just layer even brighter than you would before the wash brings it down to what you wanted. Ez.
>>96144369can't tell from the photo but if that's vallejo airbrush cleaner you're buying that stuff is pretty bad. i switched to brush magic recently and it literally is magic at cleaning brushes and airbrushes
>>96144394Flow improver, I'll get basic mineral spirits for cleaning my airbrush. Since that is locally about 2 dollars for 10 ounces. Ijust need it for the mica-laden paint I may be putting through the brush.
>>96141619I don't like the ancient model at all, the tabard looks off and I hate that helmet; the chaplain looks cool enough so I might get it.
I wish we got more than 2 models that aren't even particularly unique, I'm not talking about an entire refresh but something like new Sword Brethren models or termies would have cool.
>>96144387>brighter than you would beforeI suppose that mean using an even brighter red? But I'll give him a wash worst case I just layer over it.
>>96144167do you need to varnish before using it?
>>96144384Because it's not. They're both AdMech. Fluff distinctions are made up after the fact.
>>96141621I would guess itโs not an Eldar but the resemblance isnโt accidental either since theyโre a champion of the slaanesh.
>>96144384it wasn't supposed to be, back when admech came out the idea was for it to be half of a range with the 30k mechanicum making up the other half. This would have been covered in an imperial armor book called fires of cyraxus.
The guy writing said book died and GW moved away from cross game compatability
>>96144413Try colour testing on the sprue itself; there's enough flat area to do a few small tests side by side of priming, layering up and washing. You can compare them and see what you like before you commit to an actual model.
And yeah, just paint layers a little brighter than you want before you shade it down with the wash. You end up at the right brightness but much much better recess shadows and variation.

>>96144532Every paint gets more transparent with the addition of medium. That's what medium is for. Base paints require multiple coats, whereas baal red is flat and strong with one coat. They even out in time spent between dry times and time spent applying additional coats. Also Vince claimed it was single pigment when they dropped and compared it to a thinned kimera red which is also single pigment. Also both traditional paints and contrast paints can get you to the same point with slightly different applications when it comes to basecoats. You claiming he can't achieve perfectly good basecoats with the stuff he already has is far more harmful to a beginner than anything I've said. There's no reason to have him start getting into the mindset a lot of painters get into where if they buy one more thing it'll change everything about their painting.

>>96144530NTA but he told me to do the same and I'll grab mine today. So Tamiya Airbrush Cleaner's composition is 51% butyl acetate and 49% acetone and Thin Plastic Cement is 50% butyl acetate and 50% acetone.
That being said the glass jar of the plastic cement is so useful with the brush so it makes to grab at least one and then use an airbrush cleaner to refill it.
>>96144470Even if they drop all the resin shit that's still 21 plastic kits to add into Aeldari. That would make them the largest codex in the game, even bigger than space marines. And that's before the supposed Corsair expansion that's coming up. I'm not sure that's really the direction they want to go.
>>96144592Oh I see, I see. I used my first jar for sprue glue.

Tzeentch is by far the most powerful of the Chaos Gods but the models and game don't reflect that. Most daemons tied to Tzeentch are weak units on the table top. Not even the spells are good. But I guess Rubric Marines and A Thousand Sons are relatively but A Thousand Sons are relatively solid.

3x Princes on foot. Their psychic shots (all 27 of them) hit on 2+, wounds anything on at least 5+ and has devastating wounds on 6's. Wounding marines on 3+'s. They also have stealth aura, lone operative near their rubrics.
Not to mention the most needed function of a tight quarters model. Three models with sweep attacks that are the bane of all rubric heavy armies; lots of gribblies swarming them. That's 24 dice on a shoot and charge with each prince.
Also vindicators are awesome blockers because they can shoot into melee if they're alone in melee. Their blasts can one shot many things. Awesome as backup to magnify the daemon prince spam.

They all have 4+ invulnerable saves. Toughness 4, and 3 attacks at str4 with chainswords. That's near marine equiv abilities at 7 points a model. Imagine two of them for 2 wounds scouts at 6 attacks each.
But with 3 lords of change and 2 daemon princes (with additional effects).
Oddball army that is daemon-loss proof when the daemon codex goes away.

>>96144860Shooty daemon battle line die in the first round of melee normally but get to shoot every turn in spite of being tied in melee. They're durable to 5man units that can't wipe them in single combat.
They lack the ability to be in their realm of chaos to regain models on top of their 4+ returning weaker models each set of casualties.
It gives them something to shoot masses of weak guns at to be honest. Making lasguns wound on 5+ with a stealth granting greater daemon on foot means everything to 7 point models with a 4++.
The unique use of battle line tzeentch daemons is that planting two units of them on an objective and returning models in the way of their consolodations can keep them off the circle. So planting two units of them on their objective or a really constested one and making it a multiple combat with at least two of your units in the way lets you return more models before they get wiped.
The pistol shooting doesn't care if you're in melee range. So blob combat fits them. To be a dick, line three units of them really close so they have no choice but to charge all three units if they want any good number of attacks to mean anything. That's how to abuse horrors.

Getting novels that help provide some additional preamble for the big campaigns we've gotten these past few editions (e.g. 9th edition's Charadon, Octarius, Nachmund) could be cool.

kill oath of moment in 11th
>>96145091>blackest face you've ever seen on each coverThose people are cartoons.
>>96145227But anon, remember it's Shrimplified! Not Shrimple.
>>96145227They're losing oath which is by volume probably the largest cause of rerolls, so this smug greentext doesn't even make sense
>>96145091I really want to know how black people feel when their entire race is being reduced to token inclusive points by corporations.
Like, your entire existence is a mark in some DEI inclusivity checklist just based on your skin color.
Must be quite degrading indeed.
>>96145240Losing rerolls is great for toning down melee pressure armies like Blood Angels and Space Wolves
>>96145240The >less rerolss meme comes from the fact that when GW was toting 10th edition around and marketing it as the Big New Edition of Warhammer 40,000, one of the points which they kept going on about is how 10th edition would be "simpler" and have "less rerolls".
Both were a fucking lie on Day 1 of 10th edition.
That's what the meme is about, it's just GW being bunch of lying assholes like usual and thinking people will just forget how 9th was and not question their quetionable design decisions.
Question for Nid players.
Would an army of nothing but Carnifexs, Hive Tyrants and Tyrannofexs ever achieve anything or would I just be shooting myself in the foot?
>>96145091I usually like BL but that series has been slop since volume 1
>>96145260Do it for fun anyways
>>96145270What'd you think of the vashtorr appearence?

Fuck my stupid great chud life
>>96145277Meh. He was a missed opportunity. Anons take on the forge and vashtorr is much better.
>>96145283Then you didn't read the books, thanks for confirming
>>96145282You don't ask that when it comes to SM release.

>>96145290I thought you meant vashtorr in general
>>96145300uh huh sure ya did
>>96145282The old Deathwatch veterans looked like unfettered dogshit, so GW rectified that mistake.
>>96144897Isn't angron really bad now?
>>96145305Yes. Some of the entries on that list makes me think the guy is on outdated data
>>96145282The sad thing here is that because every marine is wearing Mk X now it can't be visually communicated that DW vets have the bleeding edge of space marine gear like the Mk VIII suits got across. Instead they just look like basic marines with a funny pauldron.
You now remember that this happened in 10th edition.
>>96145281Kitbash his model around a little, paint him in your scheme, call him commander yor'dude, and run him with farsights rules.
>>96145312Shouldn't the Iron Hands have all the experimental tech because they are the mechanicus's lab rats?
>>96145330Look, space marines need to be written with slope headed morons in mind. They're still way too complicated and I unironically see people calling them a hard to play army even now.
>>96145305>>96145311Yup. The autoinclude now is Kharn.
>>96145333I do that but it feels more like patching a gas leak with band aids and it's kinda goofy seeing my friends and I go "yeah this is not The Storm Lord this is uhhh pharon Slavekh The Slave Lord. That ain't commander Farsight that's commander Longcock" over our homebrews in the group chat
>>96145361No, that's just Roroco.
It clearly says that on the image.
>>96145361>Tsons are just Egyptian twinksNo wonder they get bullied by the viking chapter
>>96145367Yeah I feel ya. Though at least farsight is somewhat kitbashable. Getting the silent king to look like anything else will be hell if/when I get him. I'm running a sautekh scheme and they're practically in a civil war with the silent king so it's extra fucked.
>>96145330>Codex Space Marines badWell, no shit.
Here is the link to the preview of the BT codex: https://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/articles/3nvcmema/black-templars-forget-oaths-of-moment-swear-a-templar-vow-today/
Not sure how I feel about the change to OOM and the vows, seems kind of eh, but maybe the datasheets/points will make up for it.
Do Space Marines and Nids have the worst army rules because they were the first?
>>96145408This is pretty broken.
>>96145414Marines have one of the best army rules in the game, what the fuck are you talking about?
>>96145421Oath of moment is mid.
>>96145421Oath is one of the worst army rules in the game and it's not even close.
>>96145421Oaths is barely okay when you can double oath, as a solo rule it's mediocre.
Does anyone know of any models with laspistols that don't have that bulky clip right below the barrel? Something closer to a traditional pistol, or at least a little smaller?
>>96145430>>96145431>>96145435Where the fuck did all you no games come from, and why are you larping in here?
>>96145446Only I'm nogames, but I've seen enough battlereports and have read all of the codexes and I can easily tell that oath of moment is just mid at best.
>>96145446I think you have to be the nogames to believe Oaths of Moment is some sort of super strong rule. It's good to focus-fire one thing, which you can probably already focus-fire without needing them, and that's your whole army rule. Compare that shit to stuff like DG hijinks, Eldar movement, TSons buffs. It's an alright rule but it's definitely not in the upper half of army rules.
>>96145446Genuinely, who do you think has it worse?
Nids and Agents are a given, but after the T'au rule got unfucked and Admech hit everything, most other army rules are just head and shoulders above Oath.
>>96145458I think people who play more elite armies feel like Oath is a lot better than it is because they've never seen how impotent it is against hordes or MSU.
Which super special (separate book) Space Marine Chapter is the coolest both lore wise and model wise? Dark Angels, Space Wolves, Blood Angels or Black Templars?
>>96145513the file name is answered in an episode by the way.
Anyways Blood Angels are my favorite
>>96145513Of all the divergent space marine chapters, Space Wolves are the most divergent. The rest are just slightly different flavors of the same thing or Marines+

Imperial Knights (6+++ and reroll 1's)
Necrons (reanimation)
World Eaters (Khorne Yahtzee)
CSM (Dark Pacts)

Ad Mech (I don't even know at this point its changed so much)
Guard (Orders)
Black templars (Lol Vows)
Daemons (battleshock heal and conditional 6" deepstrike)
Chaos Knights (basically -1 to hit in shooting and some other irrelevant battleshock stuff)
Drukhari (pain tokens)
Agents (don't even get one)
Votann (Grudge Tokens)
Orks (Waaagh)
Tyranids (Shadow in the warp)
Tau (Guiding / spotting)
>>96145533Lots of people play the charge and pile-ins rules wrong but you're supposed to move base-to-base to the closest model in the enemy unit of able. This just lets you wrap around enemies to the back with your front model and prevent escape.
>>96145551Pain tokens with AP buff, new Guiding rules, and Grudge Tokens with extra starting quantity are not worse than Oath.
>>96145533You don't have to move to the closest enemy *model*
It lets you avoid getting your squad trapped by being engaged at opposite ends by 2 different units. Which happens all the time to 20 man blobs of marines.

>>96145513dark angels will always have the coolest aesthetic
>>96145559>Pain tokens with AP buffAre a limited resource that you can run out of. You need to spend all your tokens at the start of the phase before you roll any dice (which everyone always forgets), and if you roll bad for a turn you also don't generate any replacement pain tokens and you're now fucked for future turns.
>new Guiding rulesAre still shit. They still need you to expose multiple of your units to trade with every one that the enemy puts out.
>Grudge Tokens with extra starting quantity are not worse than Oath. That's a detachment rule, not the army rule.
>>96145513I think Space Wolves, Dark Angels, Black Templars and White Scars are kinda boring, I don't like the "what if Y was in space" thing 40k does unless you do something with it (necrons, ksons etc)

>>96145581Orks only get an armyrule for one turn of the game.
>>96145416I don't really get it. Does this mean the guys in base to base can make a pile in move?
>>96145590Yes, and it's the turn that they win the game. Waagh is literally one of the most devastating effects in the game.
>>96145572I see Gotrek got tired of age of shitmar and decided to see if he could get away with a dyejob in a new universe.
>>96145595I don't think so, once you're in base to base contact you're forbidden from making pile in moves entirely. The writing is tortuous but what this means (I think) is that as long as you end closer to any model in the enemy unit you can move however you please instead of needing to always move towards the closest model.
This is going to need a day 1 FAQ however because does this override the obligation to base if possible? Because if it doesn't then it's pretty useless. Though I assume at least one detachment will have the obligatory 6'' pile-in and consolidation strat.
>>96145513Space Wolves and it aint close my peep
>>96145597Yes, for one turn in the game Orks get to have a worse version of the Emperor's children army rule, stapled to a worse version of the World Eaters Berzerker wardband / Blood Angels Liberator Assault Group abilty.
They get to be a real army for one turn in the game, and are just a pile of middling stats for the other 4 turns.
>>96145584Yeah but did their Chapter Master kill an Alpha Level Psyker Inquisitor along with a Grey Knight Grandmaster and a whole squad of Paladins solo because they pissed him off and then suffered no consequences?

>>96145642If you win too much it stops being as cool or based. It's why xenos players like the bit of the harlequins killing the custodes or tau hammerheads cracking open imperial knights, because those are the few noteworthy victories they get amongst a sea of absolute losses so it actually stands the fuck out. The space wolves never losing just makes them seem way less cool even when compared to ultramarines because of authorial bias making people's eyes roll. Im a guard and sisters player I have no clue how winning feels but the few times we do great shit it's fun.
>>96145642Dunno. Probably not specifically. But as a rule of thumb a contest of who's done more teamkilling is a contest the DA are likely to win.
>>96144943That's the gaunt sorcerer who owns the tower.
>>96143865I had some pathfinders and Vespid screening, but they just ran around or charged them. The 12โ aura was long enough to tag most of my stuff that was behind my screeners. My plan was to let him hit the screen and then hose them off on turn 2 so I could hose them off of my guys the following turn and fall back the survivors to do actions. The 12โ leadership debut aura was enough to tag my spotters and the one stealth team further back still failed their battleshock.
I had plenty to shoot with, I just couldnโt hit anything with it or overwatch. Itโs hard to screen a ~20 inch threat range across the entire board. The only suits I ran were a ghostkeel, some fireknives and its Farsight and a Coldstar, and some stealths. Rest of the list was some broadsides, breachers in fish, and a hammer head/ skyray, kroot and pathfinder squads.

>>96147673Add.: For ecample:
>the spider head emerges from the human shoulders next to the gead, the spider abdomen from the human spine>the spider head ermerges from the ribcage>...Maybe even 1-2 lopsided models in which some spider appendages are still stuck inside the human.
>>96147673>>96147702I just happen back to the thread.
The idea is that they're using human corpses is roughly the same manner. They slack web onto the upper torso (or whats left of them) and start screetching "Help! - Help!" in a weirdly nearly human sounding way. Then when they realize all that white is webbing, and the red 'uniform' is blood wet webing, seeing the wounds they died from... It's too late and they're lept upon.
I wanted to do different poses, especially for each of the three units but theres two issues. The legs are frail, and pinning all that extra plastic off their abdomen is too much.
So in some testing, especially trying to make the normal small gaunt models to become toughness 4 - 2 wound models they all had to look the same size.
>spooders
>>96147800Found a pic of an early before-webbing image. They don't all look exactly the same, some are holding the legs and others look like they're crouching. (Hiding their spider parts behind a bush)
>>96147800>They slack web onto the upper torso (or whats left of them) and start screetching "Help! - Help!" in a weirdly nearly human sounding way. Then when they realize all that white is webbing, and the red 'uniform' is blood wet webing, seeing the wounds they died from... It's too late and they're lept upon.Imagine approaching a human who's "leaning" hunched over a wall in some backalley, getting close to his face and then gettinh jump scared by a spider face popping out of the place between shoulder and neck.
>I wanted to do different poses, especially for each of the three units but theres two issues. The legs are frail, and pinning all that extra plastic off their abdomen is too much.
That's a pity.
>So in some testing, especially trying to make the normal small gaunt models to become toughness 4 - 2 wound models they all had to look the same size.Well, it's a 10/10 for creativity and 20/10 for utter digust.
What do plan to do with the bodies? Decayed and covered in webbing? One side "normal" but sickly pale, the other gored/rotten, held together with webbing?

Is a pile of shame just shit still on the sprue or unpainted/not fully built units?
>>96149112A pile of shame can be either, just any mass of unfinished shit. It can depends on the stage of unfinished, like five boxes of spued minis feels more pathetic than five boxes of minis that are like 75% done. But if you have like ten boxes of 75% done kits, that seems very unfocused and shameful.
