Because it protects your head. The salvation keeps us from wrong thought and action. It self perpetuates itself. Once saved, always saved.

Righteousness is depicted as a breast plate. Precisely because it protects our core.

Faith our shield. It endures the harsher moments so they don't take us as swiftly.
