>The delimb system
Delimb at it's "best" is a "win more" mechanic where by simply doing the things you normally do in NG, you'll delimb an enemy and get a quick kill. At it's worst it's an extremely cheese-able mechanic, either using moves that have a very high delimb chance or by keeping delimb enemies crawling on the floor while you make an encounter much easier with less threats on screen. Maybe you're right that it does make it more offensive but not in a skillful way, it turns the game into a hack n slash where any of your attacks can randomly lead to an instakill with i-frames. Batman Arkham unironically solved this type of thing because in those games you do have ways to "kill" enemies with some type of grab animation but 1. you had consistent ways to put people into that state 2. they did not have i-frames, so in order to actually pull these moves off you had crowd control the other enemies to give you time to get that kill off. Never though i'd bring up bamham combat and compare it to ninja gaiden but I only now noticed the contrast between OTs and bamham KOs
>NG2's enemies are incredibly interesting to fight
Other anon pointed it out already but seriously, what are you on about? The large majority suck ass. I'll admit that some of the demon enemies are more interesting than NG1s demons but delimb lets you just tear them up making them feel no different from humans ultimately. Sigma 2 unironically proves that some of the ninja enemies have quite complex AI...but in base OG they die so quickly that you never notice it.
>the game wouldn’t have the following it does today.
Yeah so god of war must be a really great game too right? It certainly has nothing do with flashy animations and gore that sells games.
>Again, I don't see how. 3RE's movesets largely suffer from the same issues.
3RE's enemies are tankier and are much more defensive. You have to truly understand the systems to win, especially with delimb rates being severely cut down.
