Honestly /v/ I've come to think about something regarding CRPG's like fallout NV
Has anyone on /v/ given any thought to the idea that the PC shouldn't be able to change the world exactly?
Instead of being a god among men, maybe the better story is the one that makes it clear that your actions are small scale, and only have a limited effect.

Humanity, in the real world, can never be built on the back of four people. One person can make a few changes before they go, that's how the world works. If you aren't able to direct a huge structure like the NCR or the Legion, you will not be able to have a huge effect.
I like Fallout 3 much more than NV. Fallout 3 knows that groups are not made or destroyed by one person. In F3, outside of most of the DLC, you are not a demigod that can change the world at the drop of a hat. At best, you can help a lot of people with small scale actions and the big action of spreading clean water with the manipulation of a situation already in motion. In NV, you are literally in control of the scales at all times. There is not a point after you enter Vegas in which you are able to not be a major figure.

The story for fallout 3 may necessitate a lack of choices, but it comes off much better when the devs can focus on one story line. You were never going to a get a post Hoover dam for four to six different endings.
