Conflicting interests.
Companies are against it because it would hurt their bottom line, as they'd have to make better games to compete with their own previous product. They couldn't just release NBA30 because people would stick to NBA28 until there's a better game.
Retards are against it because they literally can't read so they attack a strawman argument in their heads.
Finally, some people are just so contrarians that they oppose anything that people seem to care about, even if it's something this uncontroversially benefitial to the customer.
