You will be balancing domestic nobles who don't like not being in charge, dynastic links that give you lands everywhere from Italy to the Netherlands, your BIG colonial Empire, and much more.
It is the closest thing to a European superpower for most of the early game; the others that come later will be stuck fighting one another or developing themselves to stand up to you.
Really, really cool game. You can very easily marry+colonise your way into world domination.
