History of games shows that people who LOVE games being put in charge of making games is what gets good results. You'd think this would be fucking obvious but major publishers and devs keep promoting and putting in charge people who don't even try to hide their contempt for the thing they're in charge of. We got Dark Souls and Bloodborne, probably the single brightest spot of hope gaming had in the 2010s, because a 33 year old guy who was tired of his job played Ico and fell in love with videogames. Sony's complete and total neglect of Bloodborne since, and abusive mistreatment of Demon's Souls, speaks to how badly businessmen fuck up the art form. That's why gaming is healing right now, because game superfans have been empowered to make their own stuff through easy indie game distribution.
