These don’t rhyme, even ignoring the extra syllable in catapult.
The “pult” in catapult is pronounced like “bolt”. The -ul- makes the same sound as the -ol- in the word “old”. It’s a sound you make at the front of your mouth.
Conversely “cult” rhymes with “fault” or “halt”. It’s a back of the mouth sound, close to your throat. It’s the same “ul” sound as in the start of the word “ultimate”.
