Nooo, don't do that. For approx $1000 you get a system with quite a few more years of gaming on it while you anticipate the upcoming AI paradigm shift in the future mobo+GPU card pairings.

The modern games use 12GB. It's more or less agreed by the major youtube game channels that 8GB VRAM is insufficient for the games coming out now. So it's basically 16GB GPU that you're looking for.

The previous advice to get the GPU and plug it into your existing system was reasonable as long as you have enough power. But the modern GPU want more lanes than your old board has. So you're going to be getting a new mobo and CPU.
