If a species has to be far morally better than us to achieve ftl travel then we're a massive hazard. It's possible that we're the most violent and sociopathic sentient species in the galaxy and it's a fluke we haven't wiped ourselves out yet, and if some naive alien ever boosts us over the Great Filter then woe betide the galaxy
