I've always loved using Lava Plume, but I almost never see it because the pool of Pokémon that can learn it has always been surprisingly small, and most of the Pokémon that can learn it are either mediocre or have better options via TM or after a dozen levels. It just feels like it's almost never worth going out of your way for when so many other fire-type moves exist. The only time I've seen it used more than once was in gen 9.
