Because there is zero editorial oversight at Marvel. We had a pretty lengthy discussion about this a few weeks back. It’s also why Marvel’s issues are pretty unique amongst every other long running multi-author IP, or at least they aren’t nearly as exacerbated in everything else.

There’s plenty of editor oversight in manga, not maybe, it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say they’re a second writer. Even Toriyama was getting torn apart regularly by his lol.
