I went through a period quite a few years ago where I was a bit obsessed with background lore, mostly just reading shit on the /tg/ wiki and some of the background pdfs
>text based VTM cyoa games
I played one of those, it was alright but it felt like choices didn't have much impact in the lore, but I hear the other ones are better
the background lore is completely bonkers by the way, my favourite part was when I found out it turns out one of the antediluvian(super ancient vampires from before the biblical flood that can theoretically destroy the world) already woke up in 1999 because the kuei-jin and the gypsy vampires were battling over who gets to control India and so many vampires were dying ever older vampires started waking up until a real vampire from the dawn of time woke up and started eating entire populations centres and got into a magic duel with three kuei-jin antediluvian equivalents, while this was going on everyone even vaguely touched by the supernatural was having horrible nightmares about the monster about to eat the world and the camarilla were running around like headless chickens trying to cover up the giant magical battle happening in Bangladesh that was causing every schizophrenic on the planet panic attacks, the werewolves tried sending a pack in there and accomplished absolutely nothing, the barrier between realities started weakening and parts of Bangladesh started being attacked by ghosts and spirits from the underworld
the entire thing only ended when science-mage XCOM(long story,Mage is insane) who were desperate to contain the supernatural threat fired multiple nuclear weapons enhanced with dimensional science to kill everything in both the real world and the spirit world, this still failed to kill the antediluvian who only died after they used satellites to reflect the sun back at him with 6 times the intensity of a normal day
anyway the property is chronically mismanaged, so text based cyoa is the best we're getting :/
