Classical antiquity was superior to the Middle Ages, maybe even the bronze age was superior to antiquity. Bronze is a better metal than iron, and at some point we were taller than later (until recently). Maybe if we keep digging we'll find proof of a historical silver age and golden age.
Also the yugas are divided in subperiods, and one such period ended in 2012 or 2013, at the same time the Maya calendar has one of its cycles end.
Jains also have a cyclical view of the universe but IIRC in such cycles human get kilometers bigger than normal, which has very little merit.
