Misunderstanding. Integrating the shadow allows you to use it. Bad parts of you get used to operate in the society freely upon your own conviction and will. Society shames and punishes our natural aggressive and sexual natures, when integrated you learn to use them to propel yourself out and above society. Being a free agent that can use morality/culture for his betterment instead of being a slave to it.

Skinners and Kahnemanns experiments and theories were built on animals that lacked theory of mind, therefore they aren't transferable to humans. Aside that, even few that were built on humans are faulty and can be broken with strong enough will and ideological backing. People are willing and able to sacrifice even their own lives for no apparent benefit other than ideological goals. Seeing humans as nothing more than animalistic automatons makes you more susceptible to negative form of nihilism where humans are easily controlled by carrot and the stick. This plays into the bigger role of modern psychology (which is populace control) but to have that kind of discussion is not for this time and place. What I suggest is that the idea of yourself that you project is truth, even if you put yourself down as nothing more than chemicals and patterns of evolution, but I give a possible (harder) path out, a possibility to create yourself on your own self image built on real interactions with the world.
